In 'Home is where the Heart Lies' Pam Hildrew gave a fascinating talk on how buildings reflect historical developments and the architectural styles of some local houses that reflect the history of Eltham. One little nugget I picked up was about the attempt to individu...

Tuesday, 26 February 2013. Why Eastleigh isn't a big test for Ed Miliband. I've read countless articles this week claiming that Labour need to do well in Eastleigh in order to prove that they're capable of winning the next general election. Apparently the Eastleigh by-election is a 'big test' for Ed Miliband and a poor showing for Labour, would mean that he would be the "real loser". So does this argument stack up? That isn't great, but it doesn't tell us much about the national picture either. Of course...

Monday, 7 January 2013. Greenwich Time bridges the gap between fact and fantasy. This week's edition of Greenwich Council's propaganda rag. Is out today and leads on the botched launch. Of their campaign to build two new Thames road crossings. According to the council:. Nelson Mandela Road (to freedom) - The Kidbrooke Kite
http://www.kidbrookekite.co.uk/2013/12/nelson-mandela-road-to-freedom.html
Monday, 9 December 2013. Nelson Mandela Road (to freedom). Nothing quite sums up the epic struggle undertaken by Nelson Mandela like two wilted flowers wrapped in foil and sellotaped to a road sign. Nelson Mandela Road is one of at least 25 roads in the UK named after the former South African president. According to the BBC. The article details several examples of plans for other roads named after Mandela in the eighties that were fought off by local people. This seems unlikely to me, but who knows?
