Situated at the northern part of Wilsons Promontory is Cotters Beach. When we went there a few weeks ago the beach was deserted except for a couple about 1 km away. The light was very overcast and dull. It is the kind of light I usually avoid for photography, but there was an eerie, foreboding feel to it. Shifting Gear: Ian Potter Centre, NGV.

In winter the intense contrasty light of dawn is rare so that the photographs are more muted and soft rather than the spectacular colours of a summer sunrise. The river ponds before the bridge and the beach. The course of the river changes frequently with storms and tides. The river now runs quite fast before joining the surf.
