Life in Durham, one meal at a time: Green Beans, cooked my favorite way!
http://triangle-food.blogspot.com/2008/09/green-beans-cooked-my-favorite-way.html
Life in Durham, one meal at a time. My adventures cooking and eating in Durham. Green Beans, cooked my favorite way! This dish is taken from Jamie Oliver from his show "Jamie at Home". I fell in love with this dish as soon as I saw it on TV. Green beans, tomatoes, chili's and anchovies. How can you go wrong? The original recipe is here. I did not have any chili's on hand, so I used many shakes from my crushed red pepper shaker. Maybe 1/2 tsp total? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Life in Durham, one meal at a time: 05.2009

Life in Durham, one meal at a time. My adventures cooking and eating in Durham. We enjoyed dessert at Local Yogurt. As for the name, well, they can't all be winnners, but at least they are trying to source as much local stuff as they can, and while the kiwi from last night was definitely not local (unless you count the grocery store), it seems they offer Foster's cookies and as the summer progresses I expect to see more local fruit. I can't wait until blackberry season! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Life in Durham, one meal at a time: Biolab

Life in Durham, one meal at a time. My adventures cooking and eating in Durham. I don't understand what the problem is. Do people not realize that this kind of research goes on at major universities everywhere (read UNC and Duke)? I am glad that people can be happy for the lack of economic development in our state, but this is something I can not understand. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I live in Durham and, like many people, am immensely interested in food. Now I have an outlet for my hobby.

True Flavors Diner & Catering. We stopped in on a Saturday for brunch (note for those of you who don’t work in this area – True Flavors is only open for brunch on Saturdays on the weekends). The menu is pretty basic with a variety of egg dishes, chicken and waffles, traditional plate lunches, a burger and sandwiches. They also have a floats and shakes menu. Good first sign, before you’ve even had time to study the menu and place your order, a plate of steamy biscuits and jam are put on the table. The onl...

Coleman’s, or, I am so fat right now | Carpe Durham
http://carpedurham.com/2008/03/25/colemans-or-i-am-so-fat-right-now
Coleman’s, or, I am so fat right now. I had never heard anything about Coleman’s. 1006 E Pettigrew St. But I went as part of Carpe Durham’s mission to go everywhere. Wow I am glad I did. Just so you know, it has either changed names or has multiple names, because the sign outside says Thompson’s. But when I asked someone at the gas station where Coleman’s was, he pointed me there. There was also a taqueria around the corner ( Taqueria Cordobesa. But somehow I managed not to stop. Carpe Durham does not is...

Speedway Cafe: Durham County’s northernmost grill | Carpe Durham

Ramblings about food by people whose only qualification is eating a lot. Speedway Cafe: Durham County’s northernmost grill. Speedway Cafe ( 12915 Roxboro Rd. Is right next door to Moe’s Tavern. In Rougemont, up in the more “country” part of Durham County. We got the Steak and Gravy meal with two sides ($5.50) (sorry for the photo quality–we were trying to be subtle by using an iPhone instead of a camera). The reason to go back, though, is the hush puppies. They might well have been the best I’v...I know ...

Local Yogurt: The kids call it LoYo | Carpe Durham
https://carpedurham.wordpress.com/2009/05/29/local-yogurt-the-kids-call-it-loyo
Ramblings about food by people whose only qualification is eating a lot. Local Yogurt: The kids call it LoYo. Is the new dessert place on the Durham scene. It’s cute, light-hearted and kid friendly (they get free sprinkles), but the best part for me was that the yogurt tasted like actual yogurt! The plain flavor was slightly, but surprisingly, tart, and not too sweet. The mango flavor (they rotate three flavors other than plain) was a bit sweeter without losing that yogurty tang. 8230;] blog, from time t...
