Sewing, child taming, getting it done. Monthly Archives: March 2013. Letting the perfect be the enemy of the good…. March 30, 2013. So I finished the February Lucky Stars Block of the Month! And then you know what I did? I obsessed about how that lower part of the gold star wasn’t perfect, and that there were three little stitches that you could see if you got SO VERY CLOSE to it. So I ripped the … Continue reading →. Paper piecing. This. Is. Happening. March 27, 2013. March 24, 2013. March 15, 2013.

Sewing, child taming, getting it done. Let me see that jelly roll. (To the left, to the left…). January 13, 2014. Another member of my guild showed a very similar quilt in a slightly different palette a few months back, and I was really taken by its impact, despite its simplicity. So, voila. Well, new for me. I saw this flower pattern on Elizabeth Hartman’s blog. OUTSTANDING. Okay… it’s not that great. But it’s better than I’ve ever done before. Well, okay. it̵...Here’s the whole package for Pr...

Stitching stories in cotton and wool. May 27, 2013. It was a really productive weekend at my house! The holiday didn't give me a reason to slack off; instead, I got quite a bit of sewing done! The April do.Good Stitches blocks needed to be sewn up. I originally had plans to make two baby quilts, but I only received blocks from about half of the members, so I only had enough for one crib-sized quilt. I also sewed the quilt top for the Rainbow quilt I mentioned last week. It worked out really well! As of, ...

Sewing, child taming, getting it done. Monthly Archives: December 2013. Fun with half square triangles…. December 1, 2013. Basically, the gist of it is that you take care of your most basic needs before you get all fancy with your time. Well, it turns out that in the middle of a gigantic move with two crazy kids running around, I do not give a crap about quilting or blogging! This one was so hard to get done, and not because it was at all difficult– it was just boring! You are comment...

Sewing, child taming, getting it done. Everybody loves an upgrade…. May 1, 2013. So my youngest goes to a preschool that has had the same Very Hungry Caterpillar activity for like 15 years. Basically, you have a caterpillar, and you make it go through all the food in the book. It’s a cute idea, but THIS was their caterpillar. Seriously people– a dirty old gym sock with a face drawn on it. And that brown circle? The food was really super fun to make. First, the fruits. I free motioned the seeds on...Oddly...
