A Re-Analysis of ACE's Leaflet Study. Now that I’ve been doing some research blogging, it’s time to continue the trend with something big. Maybe you’ve seen ACE’s leafleting study analysis. And was like woah, that’s long, no way I’m going to read all that . Instead, my reaction was that’s long, but is there any way I can make it longer? So I did. Sixteen hours later, I emerge with this:. And The Humane League. And convince them to eat less meat. But wants to put this to the test. I was personally somewha...

A Better Way to Learn Programming? Notes on The Odin Project. Follow up to So You Wanna Learn How to Code? Going from Zero to Programmer Hero in One Guide, for Great Justice. I’m currently working as a computer programmer at a start-up in Chicago. I’m getting paid to write code. It’s pretty neat. Most notably, I was not a Computer Science major in college, and I only took two CS classes. I got the job nearly entirely through about 700 hours of self study. Best of all, you can do it too! That being said, ...

How Much Does It Cost to Buy a Vegetarian? – Everyday Utilitarian
http://everydayutilitarian.com/essays/how-much-does-it-cost-to-buy-a-vegetarian
How Much Does It Cost to Buy a Vegetarian? I start with the claim that it’s good for people to eat less meat, whether they become vegetarian or, better yet, vegan because this means less nonhuman animals are being painfully factory farmed. I’ve defended this claim previously in Why Eat Less Meat? The second idea is that it shouldn’t matter. Is eating less meat. As long as less meat is being eaten, less animals will be farmed, and this is a good thing. Therefore, we should try to get. And The Humane League.

Words, Ideas, and Things: October 2014
http://wordsideasandthings.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Words, Ideas, and Things. Thursday, October 9, 2014. Quote of the Day: Conan Doyle on the American West. They are bones: some large and coarse, others smaller and more delicate. The former have belonged to oxen, and the latter to men. For fifteen hundred miles one may trace this ghastly caravan route by these scattered remains of those who had fallen by the wayside. Looking down on this very scene, there stood upon the fourth of May, eighteen hundred and forty-seven, a solitary traveller[.]". Hey journal...

There are none so blind as those who will not see." -. Monday, May 12, 2014. A Fuzzy Argument for Crisp Negation? Here's an argument that might be taken to show that 'not,' in English, does not express a fuzzy negation function; otherwise we have a paradox. (I'll assume throughout that talk of "degrees of truth" still makes sense for other, especially formal, languages or metalanguages.) Consider sentence S1:. S1: This sentence is half true. S2: This sentence is not half true. View my complete profile.

Everyday Utilitarian – Everyday Utilitarian
