Skinning a scroll bar – Part 1 | Exploding Pixels

https://explodingpixels.wordpress.com/2008/12/08/skinning-a-scroll-bar-part-1

Exposing the pixels behind beautiful user interfaces. Skinning a scroll bar – Part 1. December 8, 2008. It’s true, there really is more than one way to skin a scrollbar (sorry, couldn’t resist). I’ve spent the last month of my spare time (wow that sounds lame) experimenting with the best way to allow developers to provide the minimum amount of code in order to specify a unique look (skin) for a scroll bar. From the outset, I wanted to eliminate the mostly redundant code that must be included in a. After ...

Exposing the pixels behind beautiful user interfaces. December 4, 2009. I’ve accepted a job at Apple and will be starting there on Monday, December 7th, 2009. This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity and I am very much looking forward to contributing to the Mac platform. I don’t yet know what this will mean for Mac Widgets for Java. Or this blog, but I’ll keep you posted. 42 Responses to “Heading to Apple”. December 4, 2009 at 7:13 pm. December 4, 2009 at 7:16 pm. December 4, 2009 at 8:28 pm. Maybe yo...

But Gmail informed me of this mistake when I pressed send:. I wonder if they can figure out a way to warn me even. November 18, 2010 at 2:18 am. And I was blown away. ...

Sea Glass look and feel | Exploding Pixels

https://explodingpixels.wordpress.com/2009/10/01/sea-glass-look-and-feel

Exposing the pixels behind beautiful user interfaces. Sea Glass look and feel. October 1, 2009. I’ve teamed up with Kathryn Huxtable. On a new look and feel for Java we’re calling “Sea Glass”. The look was inspired by the following image:. The colors will likely be tweaked as we go, but the images above give you a feel for what we’re going for. I’ll provide a link for the project shortly, which will be open source. If you have comments or suggestions, be sure to leave them below. What’s it based on?

Exposing the pixels behind beautiful user interfaces. Creating a better JTable. May 18, 2009. Looks a little rough around the edges straight out of the box. With a couple of tweaks, though, we can make it fit in better on the Mac (and Windows too). Here’s a screen shot of a. That uses no auto-resize (the default on most platforms) with no customization:. So what’s the most glaring problem here? Below is the implementation. Note that I’ve done the striping in a custom. 0 : rowAtPoint; while (topY g.ge...

Rants on computing, politics, and life. Posted on September 16, 2012, 9:57 pm, by Kathryn Huxtable, under Other. As you can see by my profile picture, I decided to color my entire head blue, with some purple and green here and there. It’s been a month, and I’m really enjoying it. It is fading somewhat, but still very bright. There is a certain amount of regrowth, and I’ll be bleaching my roots and recoloring it this weekend. More of the same, I think. Rants on computing, politics, and life. I have always read a lot. Generally, I focus in one area for several years and then move to something else. I’ve always read a lot of science fiction and fantasy, though I read less these days than I did ten or fifteen years ago. My current reading is not really focussed in any one area. I’ve been reading some mysteries, some sf, some economics, some astrophysics, some mythological analysis, some history. Which was a sequel to. My argument against all this is:.

Rants on computing, politics, and life. Posted on November 19, 2011, 8:51 am, by Kathryn Huxtable, under Other. Since June, I’ve been working at H&H Color Lab. Which processes color photos from professional photographers and produces high-end products such as wedding albums, greeting/anniversary/graduation cards, canvas gallery wraps (made by dye sublimation of an image onto canvas and wrapped around a wood frame), and much more. They also can handle normal photo prints. But I’ve been busy with work.
