Sunday, March 30, 2014. Grit Do your students have it? Every day is a new day for me. I start out fresh with a new outlook on how to create a great day for my students. It's not easy with all the demands of the curriculum, student lives and daily problems. Being positive helps to get me through the day. Some people would say I have grit. I think it's more of my determination to have a successful day. I came across this great TED video of Angela Lee Ducksworth speaking about The Key To Success: Grit!

Thursday, April 24, 2014. Non-fiction Writing and Immersion. Every day for a class goal. Non-fiction books make my job easier. Before the Common Core first graders wrote "reports". They were very scripted. I think I did a poor job of selling the importance of the task. I just wanted to get it done because it was on the list. Sunday, August 2, 2015. I just love the colorful creations of my kiddos. These designs were done on 4" X 5" white copy paper with Sharpie Markers. I told them to try to fill in all the white space. I love how the marker bleeds through the paper and looks great on a sunny window. This was a winter time activity. You can see the snow in the background of each design.
