Broaching History: April 2013

http://broachblog.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Juan Ponce de Leon. Image Credit: fineartamerica.com. Today is the 500th anniversary of Juan Ponce de Leon's discovery of Florida. In search of a "fountain of youth" and the obligatory Spanish goals of God, Glory and Gold (and not always in that order), Ponce de Leon landed on the east coast of Florida on April 2nd, 1513. The discovery was named Pascua de la Florida after the Easter "Feast of Flowers.". This is a replica of the baptismal font used. To be celebrated on April 3, 2013.

A Florida Journal: Finished Summer Project

http://swampangel65.blogspot.com/2014/08/finished-summer-project.html

You can take the GRITS out of Florida, but you can't take Florida out of the GRITS! Monday, August 18, 2014. I finished the tiling project. I think I did an ok job. Not perfect, but 1000 times better than the old floor. And I also replaced the cushions on my old handmade couch. It looks SO much better now! We did get a few caches. And Aidan got to go swimming in a lake near the power plant where Lois works (for now). Next stop was Lake Placid! Sunset on Lake Persimmon. Eva surprised Mom with a visit!

OCKLAWAHA — We start at the boathouse, a long wooden box perched on the north shore of Lake Weir. Ma Barker sat on this dock 77 years ago, writing letters to her son, describing an enormous alligator named Old Joe. Not long after, federal agents hid out in this boathouse, with machine guns at the ready. 8226; • •. The house, a wooden t...
