Reflections on the dynamics of teaching. Physics Applets and Animations. 8220;Is it getting hot in here? Project Work: Group or Individual? Labs, Notebooks, and Reports: For What Purpose? May 23, 2013. I’ve gone through various other incarnations of notebooks, reports, whiteboards, packets, etc. in my 15 years of teaching. My handwritten reflection for what to do next year are below. Reflections on the dynamics of teaching. Physics Applets and Animations. SBG: Keeping Track of it All. Pseudoteaching Update for 2/22/2011 →. February 21, 2011. This term was inspired by Dan Meyer’s pseudocontext. Which sought to find examples of textbook problems that on the surface seemed to be about real world problems and situations, but actually were about make believe contexts that had little connection to the real world, other than the photographs that framed the problems. Looks like good teaching.

Thoughts on the teaching and learning of physics. Skip to primary content. So, the day has arrived. March 7, 2012. How can I teach modern topics such as particle and nuclear physics, or Special and General relativity using models? How can I get students to truly understand the implications and subtleties of Newton’s Laws without them thinking that they understand them because they’ve managed to memorize them? And Frank Noschese at Action-Reaction. I had discussions regarding growth and fixed mindsets.

I enjoy teaching students the engineering process, building, and programming using the LEGO Mindstorms kits. I currently am running an exploratory course for middle school students and have developed the following sequence of challenges for them to follow as they learn basic programming. I have used variations of this sequence to train students (and their coaches) to solve FIRST LEGO League related challenges. The files were written in LEGO Mindstorms Software v2.0. Challenge Set 1: Basic Motor control.
