The Frugal Foxhunter has moved.: Checked off the bucket list
https://thefrugalfoxhunter.blogspot.com/2016/08/checked-off-bucket-list.html
The Frugal Foxhunter has moved. Saturday, August 13, 2016. Checked off the bucket list. Just returned from a relaxing trip to the Outer Banks where I had the opportunity to check an item off my bucket list- riding on the beach! I was surprised by how deep the footing was! I feel a little funny about calling this a bucket list item because really I don't have. Next weekend is our Opening Cubbing. Hopefully the weather will be reasonable enough to ride, but I doubt we'll really. Too Hot to Work My Horse.

Clover Ledge Farm: June 2013
http://standardbredexcellence.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
160;Clover Ledge Farm. Friday, June 28, 2013. This past weekend, June 23, I attended the Friesian Events Association. Benefit Horse Show. I like this show for many reasons, most of all because this organization donates money from their shows to different causes. This year the show was to benefit a woman from NY who recently was in a bad carriage driving accident and has tons of medical bills. They were able to donate a total of $2000 to her! Dreamy and I did very well and had a great day! 2nd out of five.

Clover Ledge Farm: December 2012
http://standardbredexcellence.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
160;Clover Ledge Farm. Friday, December 21, 2012. New Beginnings for Miss Snappy. My regular readers probably remember Snap Dancer, the horse I trained under saddle. And then won our first ever under saddle race. In September. Snappy had a disappointing last few starts in harness for her owner, and I knew her time was limited. I worried and worried about Snappy, afraid she would be shipped or sent to an unknown fate. Taking a spin on the new track. Modeling her new halter and cooler. OK, you're back!

The Frugal Foxhunter has moved.: May 2015
https://thefrugalfoxhunter.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
The Frugal Foxhunter has moved. Thursday, May 14, 2015. The Story Behind the Story. So recently I had the pleasure of interviewing The Anonymous Foxhunter. As part of my plot to get innocent, impressionable riders hooked on my drug of choice. For a Horse Junkies United article. But as often happens when you are working from home, life continues on with little regard for who you may be interviewing at the time. It's about time he did something without me telling him to! When the interview was over I went ...

The Frugal Foxhunter has moved.: August 2015
https://thefrugalfoxhunter.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
The Frugal Foxhunter has moved. Saturday, August 8, 2015. The wedding is over. The marriage is happy. I have a new job. Now time to get back to foxhunting! Today was my second hunt clinic with Potomac, but in contrast to last year when I was so worried about impressing the owner of the horse I borrowed and not falling off and breaking every bone in my body, this year I actually helped other new people. It was a great feeling. Lefty on the hilltop. I still can't really believe I get to do this regularly.

The Frugal Foxhunter has moved.: Too Hot to Work My Horse...
https://thefrugalfoxhunter.blogspot.com/2016/08/too-hot-to-work-my-horse.html
The Frugal Foxhunter has moved. Sunday, August 14, 2016. Too Hot to Work My Horse. So I put myself to work instead building jumps. In the woods it was "lovely, dark and deep" like the poem. It felt significantly cooler than in the sun, but I was still definitely sweating moving around old, rotting tires! Here's the first one I made! I sent that photo to a trail riding buddy of mine.and she inspired me to make a shorter, but possibly more challenging version for jump #2:. We have a dressage schooling show...

The Frugal Foxhunter has moved.: When You Arrive at the Hunt Meet
https://thefrugalfoxhunter.blogspot.com/2016/08/when-you-arrive-at-hunt-meet.html
The Frugal Foxhunter has moved. Sunday, August 21, 2016. When You Arrive at the Hunt Meet. So I realized that my last post skips from pre-hunt preparations to the end of the hunt. But what should you expect when you arrive? How do you avoid being the poor soul whose horse thinks it is a superhero flying AWAY from the trailers, and is seen galloping with a fleece cooler flapping, cape-like, from its neck? That's why we call him Lefty the Bad Elf. When You Arrive at the Hunt Meet. This translation of a Spa...
