News from the constantly frustrated gardener. Thursday, August 11, 2016. No, me old china, I am not talking about the stairs. I am talking about actual apples and actual pears. The twiggy little branches on my dwarf apple tree are leaning towards the ground. I can’t help wondering if they will be able to bear the weight when the apples (seven of three varieties are fully grown. The Gabriola Green Bikes Project. Thursday, September 9, 2010. Last month, I attended a one-week course in bicycle maintenance and repair at United Bicycle Institute. In Ashland, Oregon. The trip was made possible by a generous donation from Green Bikes founder Hank Sirlin. After completing the course, I'm certainly no pro but I now know enough to teach some basic workshops for the community. The first one took place last weekend at The Commons.
