Christmas at Tyneside Wargames Club… – Another Slight Diversion
http://blog.belisarius.org.uk/2011/12/christmas-at-tyneside-wargames-club.html
The Thoughts and Reflections of an Easily Distracted Wargamer. Ayton 2011 Day 1. Ayton 2011 Day 2. Ayton 2012 – 1. Call to Muster 2013. Christmas at Tyneside Wargames Club…. I had really intended to get more gaming this last year but managed to get two games of Cold War Commander in the first quarter, then the big Ayton ImagiNation weekend and… that’s been it. Not a good total really but definitely quality over quantity, especially with the Ayton game! I haven’t played Grande Armee for…ages&#...Phil, Law...

Purpleworld: 1/23 Bandemer Grenadiers
http://thatpurpleworld.blogspot.com/2016/07/prussian-syw-grenadiers.html
Shameful lack of content. Sunday, 31 July 2016. Small Combined Grenadier Battalion completed. The Von Focade side will need to be added. May add a command stand in future (without flags as I am semi historical.*). These were originally part of an imaginations army I painted in April for an Ayton. Big game and Ive just repainted them. In that battle they were charged in the rear and fled without causing a single casualty. I'm sure they will do better in the next game as sturdy Prussians.

Purpleworld: November 2016
http://thatpurpleworld.blogspot.com/2016_11_01_archive.html
Shameful lack of content. Saturday, 19 November 2016. Yesterday I completed two small Prussian command vignettes in my current mission of clearing the ever swollen leadpile. For the first one I had this idea of a stoic officer seemingly calm walking across a war ravaged field. I don't usually have casualties on bases as I don't particularly like it on the wargames table but it seems to work and clears some more of the spares box! The horse was originally belonging to one of my old Ayton. Shameful lack of...

Purpleworld: January 2017
http://thatpurpleworld.blogspot.com/2017_01_01_archive.html
Shameful lack of content. Monday, 30 January 2017. A converged battalion of Grenadiers from the Manteuffel and Moritz battalions. Really the Manteuffel's should have braiding across there lapels but I thought the White was so striking that I'd leave them out. I'll do it on their Musketeer Regiment and all will be forgiven. Awaiting Tufts and Pufts. More Command vignettes next. Monday, 16 January 2017. Although I've not posted any new units of my own for a while its because I've done that age old Wargamer...

Phil's War Cabinet: Archive - League of Augsburg/ Grand Alliance/ GNW
http://philswarcabinet.blogspot.com/p/archive-league-of-augsburg-grand.html
Archive - League of Augsburg/ Grand Alliance/ GNW. Between 1990 and 2000, the main thrust of my wargaming focus was the period of the late 17th century/ early 18th century - namely The League of Augsburg, Grand Alliance, and Great Northern War. A number of these units had distinguished tabletop careers, notably Oxford's Horse who were the scourge of French, Irish, Scots Jacobites, and anyone else they could plough into the ground! Of this whole period, I have kept very few photos, and most of the units h...

Phil's War Cabinet: Paint Your Wagons
http://philswarcabinet.blogspot.com/2015/07/paint-your-wagons.html
Sunday, 19 July 2015. Each Brigade in my 18th Century collection will have a token supply wagon. and I decided that, with the Brigades starting to take shape, it was high time to paint these pieces, otherwise it's the sort of job that would get left till the end, grow into a monster, and may never get done! So, first up, French wagons for the first two Brigades (Picardie and Champagne brigades. named after the senior regiment in each brigade):. Next, the wagon for the Pils Holstein guard brigade. 20 July...

Phil's War Cabinet: Archive - Ancients
http://philswarcabinet.blogspot.com/p/archive-ancients.html
Over the years I've enjoyed a good deal of ancient gaming, from WRG 5th edition through to WAB. Here are some of the armies I've painted:. These were the subject of my Byzantine Blog within the first Warcabinet website, and formed the basis of a couple of articles I did for the early issues of Battlegames magazine. And their Sung Chinese enemies (or occasionally, Allies! Love the byzantines and huns! 19 April 2014 at 21:04. Oopsthat should be Mongols! 19 April 2014 at 21:05. 29 October 2014 at 23:07.

http://thatpurpleworld.blogspot.com/2016_10_01_archive.html
Shameful lack of content. Monday, 17 October 2016. After six weeks slogging through the Hussars, these guys took about 3 days of painting! Technically they are only half finished. Limbers can wait. I love the sponger figure - he is so cute! Wednesday, 5 October 2016. Next up Prussian Artillery and a heap of terrain projects. Back Row. The 4th figure along I dropped 4 times and had to be repaired each time. Good omen? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Another Historical Wargaming Blog! Shameful lack of content.

Phil's War Cabinet: Archive - ECW
http://philswarcabinet.blogspot.com/p/archive-ecw.html
Over the years, I have dabbled in the ECW. Firstly with a unit of Newcastle's Whitecoats that I painted in 1995 and which won the Claymore Painting Competition that year. The flags are conjectural. More recently (around 2006), I did some units of Royalist Scots for Montrose's army. Above: Manus O'Cahan's Irish. Below: Strathbogie Regt. Note the sprigs of "lucky white heather" attached to the pike heads. This has no historical precedent, but I rather like such touches on my units, so why not? Every regime...
