Living L.I.F.E. en Buenos Aires

Living L.I.F.E. en Buenos Aires. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. So, when your Mom who somehow has two email addresses yet isn’t really an “email person” says you should update your blog, you should probably update your blog. As I said before, these Porteñitos. What’s so interesting about thinking about playing soccer for me is that it sometimes feels like the most foreign thing I’ve encountered while in. On the one hand, it’s kind of like a lot of other sports in that the first thing you can be slightly. Compet...

Living L.I.F.E. en Buenos Aires: June 2008

http://www.geoffinbsas.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Living L.I.F.E. en Buenos Aires. Tuesday, June 24, 2008. My favorite sport in which to participate is, without doubt, basketball. Basketball always has been, and always will be, my favorite sport to play (at least until I’m so old that the only thing I can do is swing a golf club and drive a cart). That, however, has changed. Monday is the day that LIFE goes to a center called La Farrerre. With an opponent. Also, these kids, generally aged 10-14 or so, were good. So why am I telling you all this? I compl...

Living L.I.F.E. en Buenos Aires: La Ciudad Oculta

http://www.geoffinbsas.blogspot.com/2008/06/la-ciudad-oculta.html

Living L.I.F.E. en Buenos Aires. Thursday, June 12, 2008. Yesterday, we went into one of the worst neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. This week's (or one of them, because we had two) birthday party was in La Ciudad Oculta*. Anyway, as we get near our site, I have trouble believing what I am seeing. Populating the area are all these little residences that have house-like features but cannot be described as houses. Now, to the good part. And without doubt, Wednesday's activity was much more "good part" tha...

Living L.I.F.E. en Buenos Aires: Real Inaugural Post

http://www.geoffinbsas.blogspot.com/2008/06/real-inaugural-post.html

Living L.I.F.E. en Buenos Aires. Monday, June 2, 2008. This will be the only "real" post I make before I start work tomorrow and I have just a few stray thoughts:. My host family (which also runs L.I.F.E.) seems pretty cool. I think I would actually prefer to drive in Boston than Buenos Aires. I kind of wish I had learned Portugese, because if my first night here was any indication, I am going to asked if I am from Brazil a lot. Converter) so I can use my comp would be such a chore. My Classmates are Cool.

Sanford in South Africa: Mugabe 1 - Democracy 0 (Extra Time)

Sanford in South Africa. Saturday, June 28, 2008. Mugabe 1 - Democracy 0 (Extra Time). As the world (well, the soccer-loving portion of it) awaits the Euro Cup final between Spain and Germany, a very important contest has just concluded in Zimbabwe. In this match, Mugabe came from behind to defeat Democracy 1-0 in extra time. This is a very disappointing defeat for Democracy fans all over the world. As the match approached the 90 th. Several key players on the side of Democracy failed to contribute when ...

Sanford in South Africa. Friday, July 25, 2008. The last couple of days have been pretty good, and there are a few people and groups that can contributed to the goodness. So I've got some shout outs to give. My second shout out goes to the other members of Team America, along with members of the French Connection, and the German (Isabel) for putting together this weekend's road trip down the garden route. I'm really excited about it! That's all for now, the matric scores are in. Gotta run! The lady in Ro...

Trott On" to Belize: An Educational Journey. Friday, August 1, 2008. I've Got "HOME" on my mind! I look forward to returning home Tuesday and enjoying the good times with my children, husband and extended family. Trott On" to Belize: An Educational Journey. Sunday, July 6, 2008. Pesky Mosquitos and Bugs; A Staple of the Rainy Season in Belize. Around 5pm each everning, "the bugs" come out and unless you are well prepared with "Off! My legs and arms are dotted everywhere with red marks. A particular bug that bites leaves a small little hole that incessantly requires you to rub or scratch for relief, which then leaves a scab. I have too many of those to even complain about now. Today, what a pleasure to receive a call from the Director of Public Prosecution's (DPP) office and hear.(and you have to imagine this in that distinctive Caribbean, Jamaican-like accent). Oh Sooole Miiiooo…. It’s been awhile, here we go. The entirety of last week we spent in Italy. We spent 4 days in Rome, 2 in Naples, and 2 in Florence. In Rome we saw tons of ancient architecture, from the Colosseum. We also saw the Vatican. Including St. Peters. And The Sistine Chapel. We also saw tons of Bernini. And other ninja turtles. In Naples we took the train to Pompeii. And spent a day there exploring the 200 acres of ruins, and the next day visited the Isle of Capri. Flying around the Tuscan.
