Friday, October 19, 2012. Santa Fe EMC E1. The Electro-Motive Corporation (EMC), a subsidiary of General Motors Corporation, built the EMC E1 locomotive for the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe (ATSF) Railway between 1937 and 1938 in La Grange, Ill. ATSF purchased eight E1A units, which were assigned to specific passenger trains, and three cabless B units. The EMC E1s had Winton 201-A diesel engines that could produce 1,800 horsepower. Sunday, January 19, 2014. The New York Central Railroad, known simply as the New York Central. In its publicity, was a railroad operating in the Northeastern United States. Headquartered in New York, the railroad served most of the Northeast, plus additional trackage in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Its primary connections included Chicago and Boston.
