The Georgia-Russia Optical Fibre Submarine Cable System was established in 1999 creating a Fibre Optical Gateway between Europe to the Caucasus region - Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaidjan - and onwards to Iran, Central Asia and East Asia. The System is equipped with 16chs 40Gbit/s DWDM transmission system, supplied by Alcatel Submarine Networks. The System is jointly owned and operated by Rostelecom, Russia, FOPTNET, Georgia and DanTelco, Denmark.
