Travels around the Outer Hebrides and west coast. Fir-Chlis : Day #1. September 23, 2012. After a 6 hour drive up from Edinburgh and 90 mins on the Uig -Tarbert ferry, we had arrived. Some quality sounds on the car CD player, as some spectacular scenery went by. When the ferry had a touchdown @ Tarbert, we snaked slowly over the mountain landscape in a ferry covoy, with barely enough light to make out the martian looking boulders and rocks as far as the eyes could see. Everything is shut here on Sundays, but I am getting into work mode and getting up earlyish to get some timelapse of the house at sunrise (about 8:05 up here). Weather is looking very cloudy and wet today, I don’t know if I will get down to the beach @ Seilebost and Luskentyre. Apart from 30 minutes before sunrise, no sunshine and almost total cloud cover. Next stop, Uig on Skye and then it’s off to John and Maureens for an overnight stay on the black isle. 8 miles out to sea, the 3g reception is good out here. Travels around the Outer Hebrides and west coast. Day #14 – Heading home. July 1, 2012. Spent a second night at Ullapool. The scallops and chips from the chippy are defo worth trying, havn’t seen that anywhere else. I managed to get 4 midge bites on the last two days, but not too bad, they weren’t too itchy. A tall ship from somewhere in Scandanavia sailed in during the morning. Headed back to the black isle, before heading back home to Edinburgh, after dropping off the motorhome @ Perth.

The box on wheels was shaking a fair bit, but still nice and cosy. It was bad enough for a couple of tents to be dismantled last night. Just checked the ferry status, it’s still clear for take off @ 10:25. I reckon it’s a 40 min drive to Berneray, but I’d better leave early, as it could be fun driving a box in these conditions.
