Can you guess what we're making? We'll put photos on the blog of these when they're finished! In maths we're still working on money. We're learning about the different coins and notes. We're practising working out change. We practise buying things and giving change in the smoothie shop or the P3 and P3/4 shop.

http://glaitnessprimary3and4class.blogspot.com/2010/06/news-from-last-week.html
Sunday, 27 June 2010. News from the last week. This blog entry is about the more 'everyday' things that happened in the last week. There will be special blog entries about the rest of the week's events too. We spent a bit of time exploring what was still in the marine chest, before we had to pack it all away to send back to Scottish Netural Heritage for another class to use next. If you need lessons in how to make a colourful slideshow, just ask P3/4! We were very proud of the people from our class who h...

Glaitness Class 7M: Gas masks
http://glaitnessclass7m.blogspot.com/2010/04/gas-masks.html
Saturday, 24 April 2010. As part of our study of World War II we made some models of gas masks. Using sound effects from the BBC website we were able to simulate what it would have been like to go through an air raid and gas alert. We used our tables as air raid shelters. It was very cramped but thankfully our air raids didn't last very long. See some more masks. Posted by Anne McRae. Welcome to p7M blog. We want to share with you all the experiences and events we are having in p7 this year.

Tuesday, 29 June 2010. Canadian Day part 1 - Pipes and salutes in the Spirit Dancer. For the first part of our Canadian Day the Spirit Dancer Canadian canoe came to school to visit us. Some Candians - Chris, Barbara and Bob - came too to tell us all about it. It's 42 feet long - that's nearly 13 metres long! We all climbed in and were given paddles to hold. Chris showed us how we would paddle the canoe - and also how to do a salute. Mrs MacNab was in the skipper's seat. Posted by Mrs MacNab and Class 3/4.

Glaitness Class 7M: September 2009
http://glaitnessclass7m.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 22 September 2009. Our trip to Stromness. We started off with a walk through Stromness looking for interesting buildings and plaques on walls to show where important events had taken place. It was like a treasure hunt! Do you know why there are cobbles in the middle of the street? Many famous ships stopped at Login's well to take water on board for their journey. We stopped for a break at the cannon. Some people were particularly interested in the model ships in the display cases!

We looked at pictures of some Canadian totem poles and painted small ones first, then designed and made our big Orcadian totem pole. Here are some of the paintings people made. Posted by Mrs MacNab and Class 3/4. Friday, 25 June 2010. Keep checking the blog! There's been so much going on this last week of term that it might take a while for Mrs MacNab to get all the information and photographs uploaded. The SPECTACULAR Class Assembly.
