Running in the Peak District. Herod Farm Fell race. Shelf Moor Fell Race. Pack and Road runs. Marathon and Parkrun Ladders. 10 Reasons to Become a Glossopdale Harrier. Yup It’s chilly on Bleaklow. The Ultra Chaps… I’d imagine this is at the start of the race, considering they’re all smiling. A stonking effort by all of them. Whew I might end up just linking to the Glossop consolidated report in the future and noting anything that appears out of the ordinary for Park Runs…. Did I mention that it snowed?

Nick Ham - long distance runner: September 2013

http://ultraploddernick.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

Nick Ham - long distance runner. Sunday, 8 September 2013. Barrel Inn fell race 6.5mi. 27/08/2013. We got to enjoy a perfect summer's evening. It was good to see the usual suspects Caitlin Rice and Chris Jackson of Glossopdale Harriers once again. Whenever I turn up to a local fell race, there they are! It's that serial compulsive fell racing; it breeds speed. It's all good. :-). Caitlin and Chris already well finished by the time I collapsed across the line. Saturday, 7 September 2013. This came 3 days ...

Nick Ham - long distance runner: Western States 100 week Thu 25th

http://ultraploddernick.blogspot.com/2015/06/western-states-100-week-thu-25th.html

Nick Ham - long distance runner. Saturday, 27 June 2015. Western States 100 week Thu 25th. After the welcome we hiked to Emigrant Pass for the brief ceremony at noon. I joined WS volunteer 'UltrAlena' Hansen to share the flag carrying. Alena will be volunteering at Rucky-Chucky nearside this year. On the way up we breathed the dust of heavy construction vehicles as they climbed to chair lift construction works. A big crane that reminds me of Jez. A cement mixer kicks up the dust. Here are the day's photos.

Nick Ham - long distance runner. Monday, 26 August 2013. Cracken Edge fell race 7mi. 07/08/2013. Race 8 of 10 in the 2013 Hayfield Championship series. I'd been looking forward to this long Wednesday evening lung burner for a long time, hoping to do it better justice than I did last year. A dry sunny evening brought us perfect conditions, and not too wet underfoot. I guess I didn't have any of the Lakeland 100 still in my legs. Here are the pictures. The camera survived the tumble, thankfully.). On Frida...

http://ultraploddernick.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Nick Ham - long distance runner. Tuesday, 19 August 2014. April 2014 - main event The Fellsman. Nearing top of first climb at Lad's Leap. Sat 05/04. Lyme Park parkrun followed by Chicken Run fell race. Lyme parkrun is more like a fell run than a parkrun. It's only recently started and this was my first time on it. It's steep and intense so great fun. Time is around 2 minutes slower than for Woodbank. A damp day at Chicken Run. Sat 12/04. 36th Calderdale Hike 37mi. This was Race 3 of 12 in the Runfurther.

Nick Ham - long distance runner. Tuesday, 31 December 2013. Snowdonia Marathon. 26/10/2013. It's the only one I do. This was my 8th consecutive running. This is another race that's improved markedly over the years. Nice route, challenging, lovely views, friendliness, support, some off-road trail (road runners don't read that bit), rave reviews and max ratings on Runners World, and Y Pantri. What's not to like? I'll be back. Accommodation's already booked (thanks Stu! Here are all the pictures. The Goyt V...

Nick Ham - long distance runner. Thursday, 16 January 2014. Puma Stockport 10. 08/12/2013. The lead-up to this year's race was dynamic with underlying drama, as shown by the following two videos. Post-race analysis can be found below. Try to curb your goody-bag lust. Wednesday, 8 January 2014. Gravy Pud fell race 5mi. 01/12/2013. Nick Ham - long distance runner. Wednesday, 29 April 2015. I gambled and paid the price. The 53rd Fellsman. Sat 25 – Sun 26/04/2015. Yes, without shoes. Aleks was running The Fellsman barefoot (or minimally shod in the skimpy sandals he was wearing at that moment) as part of his training for his sponsored LEJOG. Looking back while waiting to get clipped at Whernside summit. Crossing the dried-up riverbed to Kingsdale. What are you doing here? Climbing Gragareth as the rain returned. Keep going to hit the...

To celebrate their 25th anniversary. It consisted of two different loops with base at Whaley Bridge, same base as for Whaley Waltz. So ideal for train access up the Buxton line. Race route here.
