Rookie Teacher Times
http://rookieteachertimes.blogspot.com/2010/11/emat-every-man-tiger-games-concluded.html
Fighting ignorance and apathy one class period at a time. Friday, November 19, 2010. EMAT (Every Man A Tiger) games concluded last week with a staff vs. student volleyball match. The staff team was AWESOME! They had some great moves. The student team was made up of kids who had put their names into a drawing. or so they thought. We put the kids from the drawing on the court to play the staff and THEN we brought out these girls. November 28, 2010 at 3:59 PM. The first two gave me nightmares! Kenya - Day 2.

Rookie Teacher Times: September 2010
http://rookieteachertimes.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Fighting ignorance and apathy one class period at a time. Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Mrs Rieger gets T-U-F-F. I broke up a fight today. Not an every day occurance at our school, but not totally uncommon either. I was walking past a crowd of kids that are typically pretty loud and rowdy anyway. Suddenly, the noise and the scuffling escalated until two boys, both much larger than I am, were standing nose to nose with their hands around each others' throats. Of course, I HAD to jump in. Stop it right now!

THE HAYS CREW: July 2012
http://themhayskids.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature- trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence. We need silence to be able to touch souls. - Mother Teresa. Thursday, July 5, 2012. Projects. Reading. And More. One thing my grandma would not be gritching about is this:. I finished another book, The Lincoln Lawyer. By Michael Connelly. It's a good book. A very good book. It...Anyway, I...

Rookie Teacher Times: School Lunch
http://rookieteachertimes.blogspot.com/2011/10/school-lunch.html
Fighting ignorance and apathy one class period at a time. Thursday, October 6, 2011. I just read a post from another blogger (and cousin! About eating school lunch with the students at the middle school she works at. Finally, the inspiration to post something here. I am eating lunch EVERY day with the high school students. Several factors influenced my decision to do this:. 2 If you have never eaten a lunch in a teacher's lounge, don't start. My first year I thought "Wow! And I actually get to EAT! I'm n...

Rookie Teacher Times: Snow Day Thoughts
http://rookieteachertimes.blogspot.com/2011/02/snow-day-thoughts.html
Fighting ignorance and apathy one class period at a time. Tuesday, February 8, 2011. On this fine day I am reminded to count my blessings. I am thankful that I have been a science teacher long enough to field questions such as:. Mommy, how do they make velcro? Mommy, can I help you do. (bill in the blank)" or "Mommy, why. (fill in the blank)". I am also thankful that I have been a parent long enough to know how to field things like:. Mommy, DO NOT come in the bathroom! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Rookie Teacher Times: The Elves
http://rookieteachertimes.blogspot.com/2010/12/elves.html
Fighting ignorance and apathy one class period at a time. Thursday, December 9, 2010. Last night, on the way to our second christmas program of the evening, Julia said "Santa is fake". She said this in a very matter-of-fact and no-nonsense manner. I said, "Yes, Santa is fake.". Julia said "Some kids think he is real. ". Yes, " I replied, "Some kids think he is real.". But if he is fake, why does he come down the chimney? Well, he doesn't really do that. That part is fake too." I said. Do you still blog?

Rookie Teacher Times: A good mother/teacher screws them up just enough...
http://rookieteachertimes.blogspot.com/2011/04/good-motherteacher-screws-them-up-just.html
Fighting ignorance and apathy one class period at a time. Sunday, April 10, 2011. A good mother/teacher screws them up just enough. Today in Sunday school this quote really struck me, both as a mother and a teacher:. Do you trust God enough to let him write your children's testimony? But without the inevitable pain that comes from living in our fallen world, how will they develop the need and desire for a relationship with a Savior? And THEN, but only then, God can use me as a vessel to bring them into t...

Rookie Teacher Times: November 2010
http://rookieteachertimes.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Fighting ignorance and apathy one class period at a time. Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Today's graveside temperature was a meager 29 degrees at best - with a STRONG, gusty north wind. A lone bugler stood apart from the protection of the tent that we huddled under. He played taps with pride and vigor even though his thin dress pants and jacket were whipping like the flags in the cold strong wind. Friday, November 19, 2010. They had some great moves.
