Time Flies and Feeling Young. Another year has passed. I remember hearing my parents or aunts and uncles saying that the older you get, the faster time flies. It's true! Zooming in on Life with a Word. Every year for at least 20 years now I've been choosing a word for the year. Last year it was perspective. This year is it love. I know. Love, love, love. Seems like an easy word to choose, but really, it's not. I almost chose the word others. But, it didn't define the theme I was looking for. When we lived in Budapest, our landlords expressed their desire to vacation in Cuba. Really? It was a place they always wanted to visit. Later, we sat together in the living room of our flat, looking at pictures of them enjoying the sights of Havana. My American mind thought, Why would someone want to take a vacation to Cuba, a communist country? They wanted to visit while Fidel Castro was still in power; before it changes. On March 6 at 5:30 in the morning, mommy and daddy put me in the car to take me to the hospital to get tubes in my ears. I didn’t like the hospital shirt and was not too sure of what was going on. Not only did we make pasta, tasty bread, and chocolate mousse (pudding), but the movie was FANTASTIC. Easily one of the best films I've seen in a long time.
