Monthly Archives: July 2013. July 20, 2013. Ahhhh….That City Smell. Posted in Beauty in God's Creation. Pine trees is at the top of my list of all time favorite smells, especially when they are damp with dew or rain-there is something so RIGHT about that smell. I also love the way the earth smells after a rainstorm. But a lot of the more pleasant smells we associate with ‘nature’ are probably NOT associated with city life. Follow Blog via Email. Monthly Archives: April 2013. April 25, 2013. Posted in walk with christ. Along with my art history classes in college, I studied languages, and took a lot of linguistics and anthro classes. I have always been fascinated by language, and the way we humans use it. So sometimes, I think about words. Just words. Where did they come from, and what need/want/desire was in a Man’s (capital M) heart at some point in our past that was so great that he needed a whole new word to talk about it. On the drive over t...

Living in the Presence. Serenity Sunday (on a Monday) →. November 10, 2013. What Kind of Vessel Are You? Posted in Beauty in God's Creation. In meditating on various aspects of what it means to be God’s vessel, it’s struck me, that to be filled with God’s will, I need to empty myself of my own will, my ego. On this day, I had sent my intent as simply being God’s vessel, and letting that thought kind of simmer in the back of my mind as I moved through the asanas. I’m not always great at ho...At the end of...

August 17, 2015. Serenity Sunday (on a Monday). Posted in A Calling. A post that I wrote for our United Methodist Women’s group blog, In Response. Thrift Store Spiritual Life: Discovering. I LOVE shopping second hand. I mean, I LOVE IT. It’s a great way to be more ‘green’ and a great way to stretch the family budget. But what really gets me is the serendipity of coming across. You know the one. You didn’t even know you needed it, yet you can’t fathom living without it? November 10, 2013. And so it happen...

Monthly Archives: May 2013. May 29, 2013. And Now for Something a Little Different. Posted in Beauty in God's Creation. I love Fort Wayne. I recently ran across this poem, written for a competition celebrating Fort Wayne. I didn’t win, but I do like the poem. When I returned to Fort Wayne as an adult, I got to know our city in a whole new way. The truth is, as I really like this poem for what it revealed to me-I deeply love. My Poem for A Home Town, by Sarah Chesebrough. It was always here-. May 14, 2013.

Monthly Archives: August 2013. August 30, 2013. A Prayer Just for Today. Posted in A Calling. As I’ve been struggling to find my footing in a season of change, I realize that I am making things much harder on myself by returning to some of the ‘hurts, hangups and habits’ that I worked so hard to let go of. Strange, isn’t it, how we keep picking our stuff back up again? And strange, isn’t it, how easy it is to assign human traits to our superhuman God? 8216;He’s got to be so FRUSTRATED with me! November 5, 2013. Living in the Presence. Posted in A Calling. I am reading this amazing book right now. It’s called ‘Living in the Presence: Spiritual Exercises to Open Our Lives to the Awareness of God’, by Tilden Edwards. I confess to not knowing anything about the author, but I have added his name to my ever-growing list of people to investigate. One of the early passages that stands out to me is the following:. 8220;We live with a continuum of identities in relation to God, ranging from the most sep...

Have you ever gone back and read over something you wrote a while ago and wonder if it was your writing? Sometimes it’s because it’s really good and you didn’t know you were capable of such quality. Other times…. And this is why editing is critical. Yep It just happened to me. I read over some parts of my manuscript and MY GOD!
