Confusion – The hibiscus

https://hibiscusandgrowing.wordpress.com/2015/08/14/confusion

A poem a day. A poem a day by A.J.Rao. I have watched him grow bigger. And higher against pale shadows. Growing out of need for my love. He grew out of his muddy boots. Out in a field , with halo of hair. I recall he sat by me years ago. In a shy row of a wedding feast. Wearing the early Krishna smile. The smile has since transformed. To a snigger in the curve of lips. Leaving me confused about love. August 14, 2015. August 14, 2015. View all posts by hibiscusandgrowing. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Light...

Looking back – The hibiscus

https://hibiscusandgrowing.wordpress.com/2015/08/09/looking-back

A poem a day. A poem a day by A.J.Rao. Holding dad’s hand you looked back. Just after bridge ,for my camera’s eye. Little girl ,you would be memorizing. Your multiplication tables in school,. Your arms tucked on your little chest. Are you the one crying in your eyes. Being the one not to sing as our idol. As your tears have flown a last drop? But your songs will always wave like. The grass flowers beyond the bridge. Your multiplication tables shall run. A never ending song in my memory. August 9, 2015.

Moth – The hibiscus

https://hibiscusandgrowing.wordpress.com/2015/08/08/moth

A poem a day. A poem a day by A.J.Rao. This brownish aeroplane thing. Is nightmare of innocence lost. In the inner spaces of furniture,. An augury of an innocence lost. We see the world in sand grain. As the aeroplane thing flutters. Like the caterpillar under a leaf. Repeating dead mother’s grief. Do I switch off a fan for death? I cannot decide if aeroplanes die. My mother will rise from a tree. And wail our human condition. Yet I see the sandgrain by a sea. Wonder if it has the sea within it. Enter yo...

Particulars – The hibiscus

https://hibiscusandgrowing.wordpress.com/2015/08/07/particulars-2

A poem a day. A poem a day by A.J.Rao. We move from particulars to particulars. In our place and in our time, their reality. Ricocheting as words, off our allnights. Off our allnights we are mere particulars,. A manner of speaking, daily transactions,. Mere spaces that connect in a grand sleep. Our particulars are words disappearing. Between our sleeps through our nights. That do not add up to a particular sense. August 7, 2015. August 8, 2015. View all posts by hibiscusandgrowing. Enter your comment here.

Fade – The hibiscus

https://hibiscusandgrowing.wordpress.com/2015/08/06/fade

A poem a day. A poem a day by A.J.Rao. Better pass boldly into that other world. In glory of passion than fade and wither. I am not one of Dubliners waiting to pass. Yet I pass and wither by, in a brown land. Where shrubs rise from yesterday’s sun. Glory will not be mine as I wither and fade. Like thorny shrubs dodged by eating goats. I pass into other world,as the kin at my feet. Wonder why fading is such a gradual thing,. Like light thinning in the evening windows. August 6, 2015. Playing with the sea.

Mapping our space – Fog

https://pogamanchu.wordpress.com/2016/12/19/mapping-our-space

December 19, 2016. December 19, 2016. A fine warm line goes forward, in a single track and then loops and turns us toward the sky as if the earth were sky with our footprints missing or erased willfully by winds. We first map country homes with electric poles and the abandoned substations with bat-homes. We then enter casuarina trees in their tall homes. Beyond them is a rise of the sea with no map, only a dull ocean sound for our cartography. Canada is immigrant’s map of a maple leaf. A low hanging fruit.

The steadfast canine – Fog

https://pogamanchu.wordpress.com/2016/12/13/the-steadfast-canine

December 13, 2016. The sun is up above a winter breeze , in gray clouds. A silky brown dog is tugging at a master’s leash ,generally curious about wayside grass. In Melbourne the sun rose five hours ago in WhatsApp . The sun might have got into the metro, holding gleaming handrails. Here, in my mornings I have poetry words stuck from desultory readings in the cyber wastes. Straggler words do make a poem or two and bring up a gleaming image from the bottom of night. A low hanging fruit. You are commenting...

Good bones – Fog

https://pogamanchu.wordpress.com/2017/01/01/good-bones

January 1, 2017. January 1, 2017. The loved one’s bones cannot be all that good when in the clay-pot. The clay-pot cannot be all that good if hurled in mid-waters, with a promise not to turn back. The promise cannot be all that good if the boat has turned back from eddy. The eddy cannot be all that good if it closes too. You can make it beautiful. Referring to Maggie Smith’s poem “Good Bones. 8221; that went viral recently). Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

Meaning – Fog

https://pogamanchu.wordpress.com/2016/12/29/meaning

December 29, 2016. December 29, 2016. In the bus the tiny girl suggested many levels, layers of meaning filtering into a cozy bus from the information spread about in the bus around the driver seeing in the rear view mirror and passers-by who vaguely whizzed past him. It was for me to make meaning synchronizing my plane of existence with hers. At another level a fuzzy sun set on the still lake as if the collected lake had to speak for the day without orange sun blazing in other side. Fog in the throat.

The missile man | The Indian Sensibility

https://ajrao.wordpress.com/2015/07/28/the-missile-man

Poetry about the Indian situations ,Indian memes. Nisheedhi's Nature Poetry. Poetry of the moment. Ear pain in Hyderabad. In the midst of our presidential confusion. We may mention his passing of yesterday. Lecturing a bunch of north and east kids. Add west ,south to make a passing news). His lion’s mane would wave significantly. To the management kids on wings of fire. A fire shall now bury president of all time. An old paper boy had aimed upper story. With news missile to reach morning cup.

Where fragments are wholes. When you are outside saying it. Who says this with your mouth. That did not know this before? When you are outside saying it,. You go quiet puzzling about it. Your mouth never knew words. Only sounds like mouth steam. Escaped when you opened it,. Touching different, each time. On reading Rumi’s poem “ who says words with my mouth. Where fragments are wholes. See the moon hung on a branch of tree. It is sad moon-face,a pie-face in cloud. It used to jump each time a wave came. You are reading in years, with big holes. Eaten in by silver worms, that eat them. So nice and to such a round perfection. The years have eaten bits of your moon. This entry was posted in poems. Wind in the pass →.
