We once read that a farm needed 11 cats to keep rodents in check. We fall a bit short, and only have four at this time. Here's the latest addition - Oragif, or Ora for short. A few months after we lost Figaro, an old black cat, this one wandered to our farm - a reincarnated version of Figaro and named after Figaro (Oragif is Figaro spelled backwards). This is Skunk. Ignorance is bliss - especially in regard to how commercial broilers ar raised. We're off the grocery store chicken and grow our own. A chick gets an early run on pasture on a warm spring day. After brooding, the chickens are pasture raised, with many in these portable cages or "chicken tractors that keep them safe from predators. She's been to Boston a couple times for church trips, once as a participant and once as a student leader, she's been to Washington D.C. a couple of times, Birmingham, AL for national debate championships, Flagstaff, AR for national envirothon championships, to Phoenix to march in the Fiesta Bowl parade.
