Feb 5, 2013. Well, Kirk went and shipped his boat back to Alpacka to have their new Cargo Fly. The Cargo Fly is an airtight, waterproof zipper system in the stern of the boat. Opening this zipper allows access to the inside of the tubes to store your gear. With careful planning, everything can now go inside your raft rather than strapped on the bow in a pack. Solstice Canyon once was a ranch, but the area burned out in 1982, and the family sold or donated it to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. Monday, November 7, 2011. Harpers Ferry and the October 2011 Snowstorm. I did a hike up the north face of the mountains surrounding Harpers Ferry the day after the big October snowstorm. The combination of snow and trees with leaves was beautiful. The damage to the trees and the trail was extensive though - the snow stuck to the leafy trees and brought many of them down. Can you spot the trail? It runs off to the left half way up the picture. You can see video on these YouTube links ( #1.
