a Scrap of Life: July 2012
http://ascrapoflife.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 6, 2012. Shortly after arriving here in Saskatchewan, I realized that I was going to really miss being without a sewing machine for the entire summer. So, the hunt was on for a new-to-me vintage machine that was inexpensive and that wouldn't require a lot of work to get up and running. After stalking Kijiji for over a week, the perfect machine finally appeared:. And this weird brownish stain on the machine bed, that almost looks like a kind of flash/burn mark. Hopefully I'll be able to r...

a Scrap of Life: Teach a Class, Take a Class
http://ascrapoflife.blogspot.com/2013/03/teach-class-take-class.html
Monday, March 11, 2013. Teach a Class, Take a Class. I have a couple of fun adventures coming my way in the near future. First, I'll be teaching a class next weekend at my LYS (local yarn shop), Trish's Crafty Corner. The class is learning the two-colour brioche stitch, also known as slipped-stitch colourwork. The pattern I'll be using is the NewsPrint Cowl by Haven Leavitt. Here's one I did for last year's Ravellenic Games in Patons Silk Bamboo:. I foll owed the pin to her incredible blog Elvie Studio.

Saturday, February 18, 2012. Vintage 1958 Brother Sewing Machine. Machine. And did I mention it's pink. It came in a wonderful desk with 3 good sized drawers for storage, as well as two metal tins full of accessories. One of the tins had about a dozen different foot attachments, including a ruffler (I've been wanting one! Oh, and check out the neat telescopic spool pin! a Scrap of Life: January 2012
http://ascrapoflife.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Well, I do. That is to say, a new Epiphanie. It arrived a couple of days ago, and I am in love. A friend of mine. Right off the bat, I was delighted with the extra care that went into packaging the bag. It came in this branded box that had me grinning from ear to ear with anticipation before even opening it. Upon opening the box, I came face-to-face with a lovely little epiphany in the form of a quote-on-a-sticker. Just how did they know I already love that quote? Here's what I...

Tuesday, January 29, 2013. MITMA (Missing in (too much! It's been a while, but I finally have time to sit down and update my little corner of the internet. First thing, I had to update my background to reflect the cold, snowy winter we're having here in New Brunswick! So, that's what's been keeping me away from the computer. Now that I have some spare time again, I promise to reply to some inquiries I've gotten on here in the last several weeks. sorry for the delay! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

a Scrap of Life: April 2012
http://ascrapoflife.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 26, 2012. I recently fell in love with this awesome Anthropologie bag knockoff that I saw on Pinterest, and I finally got a chance to do some sewing yesterday and thought I'd give it a shot. The pattern/tutorial is from Emily at The Boy Trifecta. So I rummaged through my stash and found some light brown corduroy I'd been saving for the express purpose of making some sort of bag out of it. Here's my finished bag:. I know, it doesn't look that bad, right? Somehow, despite multiple measuring...

As I sew it}. Middot; Victory Patterns. The Lola Dress, AKA what I will wear all Christmas break…. December 21, 2014. December 21, 2014. At first I thought, meh, but the more blog post I saw, the more the dress grew on me. It is safe to say, I am not an early adopter (heck, I am still smarter than my phone). As I began to warm to this pattern I saw this post by Lori. I made a size 10, and even though I see a few fitting issues in the photos, I am still really happy with the results. It is very comfy and ...
