Icelandic Horse: Here We Go, No Hands!
http://icelandichorse.blogspot.com/2008/11/here-we-go-no-hands.html
Icelandic Horses and horse training. Friday, November 28, 2008. Here We Go, No Hands! This is a fun video to watch. The horse appears to have a little problem with the bit, but the rider does not seem to be keeping a lot of contact on the reins, so that's good. She is comfortable enough to drop the reins (altho Reynir drops the tolt and goes into trot; he may need the contact to be able to perform the gait). It is very nice to see the much looser rein, and less heavy contact. Teaching a Horse to Talk.

Icelandic Horse: Icelandic Horse Slow Motion
http://icelandichorse.blogspot.com/2010/01/icelandic-horse-slow-motion.html
Icelandic Horses and horse training. Monday, January 04, 2010. Icelandic Horse Slow Motion. It is interesting to view the legs of the Icelandic Horse in slow motion. Conformation problems may cause the transverse legs to cross over each other (rope walking), and the style of riding with mechanical aids, or the pounding of the feet on the ground may cause the joints to hyperextend (such as seeing the bottom of the front feet from the front, as in the above picture, not a good thing). Gaits of Gaited Horses.

Icelandic Horse Connection: Icelandic Horse Rollkur
http://iceryder.blogspot.com/2010/02/icelandic-horse-rollkur.html
Icelandic Horses and horse training. Advocating for the Icelandic Horse (Pony). Wednesday, February 24, 2010. My gosh. what ARE they thinking? Why should an adult male *NEED* to put a huge piece of metal in his pony's mouth, and then strap the metal down as tight as possible with a huge, severe noseband, and then put all his muscle on the reins? Why should any Icelandic Horse have to endure this practice? I thought people loved the Icelandic Horse? I thought people respected the Icelandic Horse? Foot Fli...

Icelandic Horse Connection: Balanced Saddle Versus Chair Seat Saddle
http://iceryder.blogspot.com/2008/08/balanced-saddle-versus-chair-seat.html
Icelandic Horses and horse training. Advocating for the Icelandic Horse (Pony). Sunday, August 24, 2008. Balanced Saddle Versus Chair Seat Saddle. Here are two Icelandic Horses with different style saddles. The first is a treed icelandic-style saddle. The lowest part of the seat is further back, putting the rider in a chair seat, which places most of the weight behind the action of the horse (center of mass), and on the weakest part of the horse's back. Icelandic Horse Connection: Mechanical Aids
http://iceryder.blogspot.com/2008/12/mechanical-aids.html
Icelandic Horses and horse training. Advocating for the Icelandic Horse (Pony). Thursday, December 11, 2008. Not all Icelandic Horses tolt (which is a one-foot / two-foot support, even four-beat, lateral gait, of speed, where the horse is ventroflexed, and downhill). Icelandic Horses can offer several different easy gaits at liberty, such as the fox trot, running walk, stepping pace, etc., as well as the saddle rack; or may not offer any easy gait at liberty. Severe bits combined with severe nosebands.
Icelandic Horse Connection: Icelandic Horse Foot Flicking
http://iceryder.blogspot.com/2008/11/icelandic-horse-foot-flicking.html
Icelandic Horses and horse training. Advocating for the Icelandic Horse (Pony). Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Icelandic Horse Foot Flicking. Foot flicking (aka toe flicking, foot flipping) in the Icelandic Horse is when the hoof of the front foot travels past it's normal arc; hyperextention. It can happen because of a few reasons, a couple of which are: too much laxity in the fetlock, and / or weights on the distal limb. The bottom of the hoof should not be seen from the front. More here: Flipping Toe.

There is a dot that shows where the stirrups are hung, and the third white dot shows an approximation of the horse's center of mass. One image shows the saddle ...
Icelandic Horse Connection: Icelandic Horses -- Not Necessarily Unspookable or Unflappable
http://iceryder.blogspot.com/2010/09/icelandic-horses-not-necessarily.html
Icelandic Horses and horse training. Advocating for the Icelandic Horse (Pony). Thursday, September 2, 2010. Icelandic Horses - Not Necessarily Unspookable or Unflappable. Icelandic Horses are not necessarily unspookable or unflappable. Some Icelandic Horses are born calm, some are born nervous / sensitive. Some Icelandic Horses are pretty unflappable and calm, some are skeptical and unsure of things around them. I am a quarter horse owner but appreciate most other breeds. Accepted Look of Tolt.
