https://poorepurr.wordpress.com/2016/06/10/helens-history-of-running
Work in progress…. Helen’s history of running. June 10, 2016. I was not at all sporty as a child, I was very short sighted and my PE teacher at secondary school insisted I took my glasses off for ball games in case they got broken which meant I couldn’t see the ball at all! My plan for the next year or so is to work on my strength and conditioning so that I can run better even if not quicker. I have about 6 races already booked for the year and am working on improving the distance I can run rather th...

Work in progress…. Basingstoke Half Marathon- my ace race! October 26, 2016. I have a vested interest in this race because it starts and finishes just 10 mins walk from home and goes past the end of my road. This means I know the route really well and could train on parts of it which gave me “home advantage”. After a brief downhill stretch it was long hill number 2. This was steep and always seems to go on for ever but I had joined up with a couple of other runners so we puffed and chatted our way up...

As a Baha’i a major theme for us is the Unity of all Mankind, thus the discussion took the shape of c. As more than our neighborhoods but our nations and world as a whole. Grand stuff I know. I find it appropriate that this was the topic for today as it mirrors my thoughts for the last couple of days. Americans, Canadians and Haitians, Nurses, Therapis...

Work in progress…. How not to run your first marathon. September 10, 2016. As mentioned in a previous post I ran my first marathon by accident… In fact I also ran my first half marathon by accident too. I have to credit Travis Wilcox and his wonderful Saxon-Shore events for both achievements. 8221; you’re in for a treat, it’s laugh out loud funny, moving and very honest. Getting out of my head and Into Action. Getting out of my head and Into Action. Here you will find musings on life, family, friends, faith, recovery and pretty much anything else that comes to mind. There will be a lot about running and probably a fair amount on various nerdy aspects of my life, Dungeons and Dragons, books, writing and games. A quick heads up that yes I am a former sailor so I have been known to use a curse a time or two though my proficiency has waned in my time off the water.*. You are...

Getting out of my head and Into Action. We’re going Back…to the Future! August 7, 2015. August 7, 2015. I’ve been avoiding it for some time, two years actually but I’m back to a smart phone. Not a current phone mind you, my wife’s old IPhone 4 but still a big improvement technically from the Go-phone I was using. However I did miss a couple things. I was unable to take picture of my girls when we were out and about. Like these:. Water is nice on a hot day in the desert. So I hear. I ran the La Luz Trail.
