Day 3 - in and around Zagora. The first light of dawn - if you look hard! Start of the walk back - the lights of Zagora. Relics of ancient fortifications. Plus a very thorny acacia. Palmery showing signs of the drought. Getting back to civilisation - and a convenient reminder that we are around 30. deg North. Day 2 - Marrakesh to Zagora through the Atlas Mountains. We left Marrakesh early, and set out for the drive south-east over the High Atlas (see map. Tiles on the main staircase of the Hotel Ali. View of the Demma El Fna Square in the early morning - this is where it all happens! The terrace at the Hotel Ali - a grey day but good for travelling. View from our bedroom at dawn. Street scene - donkey, motorbike and palms. Near Marrakesh there are trees by the road. And quite a lot of green areas either side.

Day 4 -Zagora to Tata across the edge of the Sahara desert. We set off early again today to drive across the wilderness to Tata. It was a very strange and interestings experience being such a small part of a very large landscape. Loading up at Zagora 7.30 am. We only went to buy postcards. And we ended up with Berber scarves. Starting off across the desert road. Thorn bush - life is tough in the desert. We had a 20- had minute walk. To get a better appreciation of the desert.
