Off-Piste: Where's that playground
http://livingoffpiste.blogspot.com/2012/08/wheres-that-playground.html
Sooner or later, everyone goes to the zoo. Friday, July 27, 2012. We spent the better portion of this past week in Lancaster, PA visiting Muz (my grandmother) and my aunts Barbara and Penney. The kids had a great time exploring Muz's house, enjoying the hotel, and seeing new scenery from their carseats, but it was a deviation from our normal schedule of spending many hours per day at playgrounds around house. I'm just trying to figure out how to get to the playground.". Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Sooner or later, everyone goes to the zoo. Sunday, October 30, 2011. The Onion, always honest in news reporting if not always accurate, had this headline recently: Study Finds Every Style Of Parenting Produces Disturbed, Miserable Adults. The last line is my favorite: "The study did find, however, that adults often achieve temporary happiness when they have children of their own to perpetuate the cycle of human misery.". Off-Piste: December 2011
http://livingoffpiste.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Sooner or later, everyone goes to the zoo. Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Two weeks with two kids. Two weeks ago at this exact moment I was going to bed and hoping that I would not still be pregnant at breakfast. I wasn't. And for the past two weeks we have been figuring out what life with two little boys looks like. We have been doing so well, in fact, that we may have gotten a little over-confident: today we went to IKEA, which everyone knows is the K2 of retail. Don't we all want to do that right now?

Off-Piste: September 2011
http://livingoffpiste.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Sooner or later, everyone goes to the zoo. Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Eric and I attended our first Tampa sporting event on Saturday night: a Tampa Bay Rays game at their indoor. Stadium in St Petersburg. Who ever heard of an indoor baseball stadium? More country-ness: Jeff Foxworthy on video opened up the game with a bit on "You might be a Rays fan if." which reminded me that there are more people that you think who are able to turn one not very clever idea into a lifelong career as a performer. And p...

Off-Piste: A few recent good ones
http://livingoffpiste.blogspot.com/2012/08/a-few-recent-good-ones.html
Sooner or later, everyone goes to the zoo. Sunday, August 5, 2012. A few recent good ones. Here are a few of my favorite recent Emerson-isms. We are at the age where everything we say comes right back to us. For example, Emerson is now often heard saying: "Does that sound like fun to you? I don't know if I've been speaking in British lately but Emerson has started inserting "rather" in a very proper way. Would you like some yogurt Emerson? Mom Put your hand on my head and push down really hard. And puts ...

Off-Piste: May 2012
http://livingoffpiste.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Sooner or later, everyone goes to the zoo. Sunday, May 27, 2012. I learned this morning that my dear friend Johnny Stef. I missed my chance to say it in person, but here is what I would have said:. You will be greatly missed. Monday, May 14, 2012. It only took us six years to find out. On Saturday night Eric and I went out on a date. And because we are parents in our early 30s living in Florida, obviously that means just one thing: we went mini-golfing. Perhaps we have a new family tradition. The woman s...

Off-Piste: February 2012
http://livingoffpiste.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Sooner or later, everyone goes to the zoo. Monday, February 13, 2012. Eric pointed out that my previous wild turkeys were actually Muscovy ducks. Oops. Then as I was driving last Thursday I came across a grazing flock of actual wild turkeys and they do look a lot more like turkeys than those ducks did. Wednesday, February 8, 2012. The strawberries above, minus a few that got eaten along the way, turned into this much jam (plus another jar we gave away before I took this picture):. Friday, February 3, 2012.

The Scarlett Letters: April 2014
http://letterstoscarlett.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Love Notes to my Daughter. Wednesday, April 9, 2014. At some point early in the year, we were reading one of your National Geographic Kids books (thanks, John Lalor! And you discovered the fun fact that the London Bridge of falling down fame is now located in Arizona. This prompted a short discussion of the location of the United States in relation to England, and a much, much longer discussion of whether or not the London Bridge actually fell down. Last week, we took a spring break road trip to Indian W...
