A Year In South Africa: YAGM 2010-2011: Things I will miss (in no particular order)

http://jbusacker-southafrica.blogspot.com/2011/07/things-i-will-miss-in-no-particular.html

A Year In South Africa: YAGM 2010-2011. Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Things I will miss (in no particular order). Waiting for taxis to fill. Waiting for taxis to leave. My favorite SA farmer and his lovely wife. My South African family. Braais on the farm. Dragon Peaks, the adventure crew, the Château De Rus, and the many random nights. My kids at the Kwethu Cottages. The never ending Kwethu drama. My flat at the Kwaz. SA rainstorms…particularly those that made my kitchen flood. Smell of the Kwaz wafer bakery.

Ag, Nee Man! Ach, neer man]. Oh, No Man! Keen, full of energy, looking forward to. 8220;I’m amped for the concert this weekend! A Hangover (Derived from a Zulu word). 8220;...

A Year In South Africa: YAGM 2010-2011. Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Lessons From a 6 yr. Old. It also means that I try my best to live with an open system of beliefs, an ever-changing set of principles that I hold. But after all isn’t that what living and abroad is really all about? One principle that I have started living by here that reflects this is the idea that when an activity feels. As though it is valuable or worth doing, it is. Just last week I made a trek up to a store just a few meters from the...

Breathe It In...: Happy Merry New Christmas Year…

http://valeriegrivas.blogspot.com/2011/01/happy-merry-new-christmas-year.html

Umphumulo, South Africa. Tuesday, January 11, 2011. Happy Merry New Christmas Year…. So it has definitely been a little while since my last post, but I can assure you it has been a bit of a journey for me too! So Christmas day… it turned out to be a very bright South African experience! Upon arrival, we started right away with helping Thandekile in the kitchen as she was the only one cooking for about 25 people and at the same time watching and trying to entertain about ten children! Now for the New Year!

Umphumulo, South Africa. Friday, June 3, 2011. On the Road to Umphumulo…. Throughout my time here in Umphumulo (and everywhere/whenever I had the privilege to visit the other volunteers in Soweto, Bonaero Park, Kenosis, Kimberly, and Bloemfontein… so far! I have most definitely learned when it comes to food there will always be fellowship, culture, and faith experienced at some point in time; sometimes all three will be experienced within the same meal too! Breathe It In...: September 2010

http://valeriegrivas.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Umphumulo, South Africa. Monday, September 20, 2010. New people, New life, New adventures… But the environment still feels the same…. So it’s been over a week since I first arrived in Umphumulo and the adventures I have been experiencing have all been happening way too fast! The one thing that I find so surprising and yet relieving is how close to home everything around me, well… IS! On a not so serious note, I’ve come to realize that food is a big part of socialization and culture here, too! Our orienta...

Living my dream -

2012-06-28 @ 04:03:25 Permalink. I hope you had the time of your life. A fork stuck in the road. Time grabs you by the wrist. Directs you where to go. And don't ask why.

JB USA

Sunday, October 14, 2012. Campaign for Real Ale. It's funny, I never cared much for cask conditioned ale when I was a native of England, despite living in the Thames Valley and Kent at various times, two places with strong ale histories. I did enjoy the odd pint here and there but it wasn't until I returned to visit and spent some time in the Cotswalds that I began to really see what it had to offer. Luckily, I am 'cask conditioning' this beer! Johnboy in the USA. Saturday, October 13, 2012. My first 5 g...
