The end of the beginning. February 11, 2011. Well it’s my last night of my trip before I make the long journey home. Mural made by kids at Skateistan. It was hard work finding any sense of bearings here in Afghanistan, but now I have, I am feeling sad to leave. Trying to calm a group of 40 kids with no shared language is a little tricky! Later in the day we got to muck around with some basic acrobatic games and me. Generally running around and being silly. A massive begging bowl from the Buddhist time.

Please, feel that this is your home. What makes a place holy? Politics are interfering with my holiday. January 23, 2011. Yesterday India and I dragged ourselves away from the beautiful food and hospitality at the home we are staying, to head into Jerusalem. The plan was to spend two days visiting some key sites around Old Jerusalem….little did we know! Valiantly they keep their shop open – even though now out of the way of any customers – and they use the wall for advertising! And read this for context.

As an acute example of how limited my lens is – today we had a lovely morning walking around the Old City of Bethlehem, being charmed by local shopkeepers with cups of tea, while just along the road there were 3000 settlers taking more land from the Palestinians. Saturday, July 10, 2010. Day 1 of the 2010 West Texas Vacation. I can't possibly describe how happy I am to be back in the desert. How happy I am to see Agave plants like this one. - -. Maybe I'll use the landline. Anyways, enough sad stuff. Didn't see what we were hunting for, but we did see a bunch of kangaroo rats (they are so cute! We're observing the wildlife.
