From Dawson Creek in the Yukon, we took a ferry across the Yukon River and then traveled on the Top of the World Highway and crossed into Alaska. Send me an email. Gallery - Along the Way. Cruise ships stop here, so this town is sort of touristy and not like the more out of the way towns we visited. An interesting tour of the Gold Rush Cemetery revealed a lot of what went on back in the hey-day of the Great Gold Rush. We did take the White Pass and Yukon train ride leaving the station here. Located in Wasilla, Alaska, this museum tells the story of the machines that helped form Alaska's history. Very interesting place to visit.

Very neat little town reconstructed on the original site with many of the remaining buildings standing. We ate dinner at a period restaurant named "Wake Up, Jake! At the end of the road, you park your vehicle in the lot, walk across a foot bridge and then walk another 3/4 mile to get to the town. Back in the copper mining days, it was the "weekend" town for the Kennicott mine workers to come down five miles and spend their hard-earned money on booze and "fun". Create a free website.
