Jessica in Jerusalem: December 2006

http://www.jkarpay.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 29, 2006. Another guest blog, with my (Jessica's) comments in blue. Michael wrote first, in black. This week the time finally came to play my role as a proper tourist in Israel, which can generally mean only one thing: museum time! Since Jessica had only been to the Israel Museum to see one or two exhibits, I did not feel too guilty about bringing her back there to do some more exploring. Temple without seeing the role it played in that era, both religiously and geographically. The Secon...

Jessica in Jerusalem: February 2007

http://www.jkarpay.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 25, 2007. I'm back to writing in Italics! That means someone else has elected to do my dirty work, again. This time: Israel from my parents' point of view. They left on Tuesday night, and I left Wednesday morning for an HUC trip to the Negev. I'll collect my thoughts and write about that in a day or two. Thanks, parents, for buying me a little more time! My interruptions of my mother's words are in italics. Another guest blog….from Jessica’s most recent visitors. I can’t describe e...

Jessica in Jerusalem: November 2006

http://www.jkarpay.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 28, 2006. A midweek posting so I’m all caught up before I disappear for a few days…we’re going to. On Sunday, my Hebrew class and another class went to visit the Israeli Supreme Court, beit hamishpat ha-elyon. It was a much better trip than I expected! It was definitely a huge plus that our tour guide was incredibly patient with us, so if we didn’t understand something the first time, he explained it again using different words. The building itself is beautiful. We were there for about ...

Jessica in Jerusalem: High Holidays in April

http://www.jkarpay.blogspot.com/2007/04/high-holidays-in-april.html

Friday, April 27, 2007. High Holidays in April. I'm going the slightly lazy route this week. The following is what I just submitted to my synagogue newsletter about the recent holidays. An email went out last week to the entire HUC first year class with a subject line that read “the High Holidays of Israel.”. In the email was information about three upcoming holidays, Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), Yom HaZikaron (Memorial Day), and Yom HaAtzmaut (Independence Day). It’s a Jewish country! Touris...

Jessica in Jerusalem: Back in the USSR...

http://www.jkarpay.blogspot.com/2007/04/back-in-ussr.html

Wednesday, April 11, 2007. Back in the USSR. As promised, a description of my trip follows. It was such an amazing and busy week that it's hard to condense it into a post. Want more details? Just ask. Pictures coming soon. A quick intro to the important people on my trip:. Josh and Hayley: my HUC travel partners, and awesome trip buddies. In the middle of the night, so none of us started on much sleep. All week we put up with each other, calmed each other down, and cheered each other up. We led the first...

Cassi's Jerusalem Adventure: August 2006

http://cassibeth.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 26, 2006. The end of Ulpan has arrived. The final week of Ulpan is now over. I gave my 10 minute hebrew presentation, took my last final, and sat through my orientation for next semester. It was comforting to know that classmates of mine are battling with similiar ideas. Their concerns make me hopeful that the reform movement has a lot of positive changes ahead of it. I am proud to be amoung leaders working for that change. Posted by Cassi Beth @ 3:56 AM. This blog is an informal chronicle of the life and times of Michal and Jonathan in Jerusalem. As it will be up to Jonathan to update it, the addition of new content may be random and infrequent, but he promises to try really hard to update often. Shalom. Sunday, September 24, 2006. Happy new year - by Michal. What a whirlwind week it’s been. First, shana tovah to everyone! At least that's out of my system now. Very odd, but very cool. Cassi's Jerusalem Adventure: July 2006

http://cassibeth.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 27, 2006. My trip to hell. Today I went to hell. No, not the demon filled furnace of Satan. We went to Gai Ben Hinnom- a beautiful field filled with greenery, happy families picnicing and the smell of fresh air. The nickname, Ghenna, is the hebrew word for hell. But how, you ask could just a beautiful valley be nicknamed something so horrible? Today we saw grave sites from the time of the 2nd temple. We saw a model of the 1st temple, and Mt. Zion. Cassi's Jerusalem Adventure: February 2007

http://cassibeth.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 09, 2007. Every wednesday, for a change of pace, HUC students meet to discuss the inner-workings of Israel, to go on field trips, or to meet interesting speakers and leaders. Some seminar days are uneccessarily tedius. Some are enlightening, informative or enriching. This week's Israel seminar was a gem. From left to right: David Vaisberg, Rachel Isaacs, Halayne Hashmal, Sewar, Hayley Feldman, and me. Posted by Cassi Beth @ 11:09 PM. Friday, February 02, 2007. And just a few tables away,...

A Diary Of A Dreamer

A Diary Of A Dreamer. December 30, 2010 in Reviews. Different Types of Kisses. Probably the most famous kiss there is, the French kiss is an open-mouthed kiss where one person’s tongue touches the other person’s tongue. Also called a tongue kiss, the French kiss easy enough to execute, but it can take years to master. Based on the kiss in the 2002 movie. The Spiderman kiss involves kissing someone whose face is upside-down from yours, so your top lip kisses their bottom lip and vice versa. This is a fun,...
