Friday, 31 July 2015. Bucknell Wood has to be one of, if not the. Favourite place of mine to visit locally for wildlife. July too is, for me the best time to visit, with the place crawling with life! The butterflies in particular, are a big draw for me, with a fab variety of common and rarer species too and I've now recorded 26 species (and counting) in total here. Thursday, 30 April 2015. I had Sunday (26/04) morning to myself and so decided to visit a few Northants sites in the hope of more migrants. I decided to start at Daventry Reservoir/Country Park as it's usually a good site for terns/gulls in spring. Heading there was all the more a must as just as I was leaving, news came of a singing Wood Warbler in the car park. Brilliant! On my return to the car park I had another little vigil with the Warbler and in fact, he showed far better in marginly better light.

Sunday (06/07) saw me have the day to myself down in Devon and so I shot off early doors straight to Topsham near Exeter, to Bowling Green Marsh where a rather unseasonable 1st-summer Ross' Gull had been lingering. This months challenge (due Oct 31) was to paint any two units for my ogre kingdoms army. I chose Rakarth Flesh for my skin base coat. A wash Drakenhof Nightshade to define the details.
