El creador de Matsubayashi-ryu fue el Gran Maestro O Sensei Shoshin Nagamine. Nació el 15 de julio de 1907 en Tomari (ciudad de Naha, Okinawa) y falleció el 2 de noviembre de 1997. Sus principales maestros fueron Ankichi Arakaki. Chotoku Kyan (conocido como Kyan, el de los ojos pequeños) y Choki Motobu (apodado Motobu, el mono). Sensei Ricardo G. Fuchs Camani (Kyoshi 7º Dan) es el representante de Matsubayashi-Ryu en España. Sus primeros contactos con el estilo comienzan en 1969 en la República Argentina con Sensei Jintatsu Higa y su hijo Sensei Oscar Higa. A partir de 1974 siguió Matsubayashi-Ryu con Sensei Shigehide Akamine hasta el año 1986, año en el que emigró con su familia. La última oportunidad que tuvo Sensei Camani de disfrutar de las clases maestras del Sensei Shoshin Nagamine fue en Okinawa durante febrero de 1997.

Ricardo G. Fuchs Camani Sensei (Kyoshi – 7th dan) is the representative of Matsubayashi-Ryu in Spain. His first contacts with the style begun in 1969 in Argentina with Sensei Jintatsu Higa and his son Sensei Oscar Higa. As from 1974 he continued Matsubayashi-Ryu with Sensei Shigehide Akamine upto 1986, year in which he left Argentina with his family. Richard Fuchs Camani Sensei visited Okinawa during February 1997; it was his last opportunity to enjoy master lessons from Shoshin Nagamine Sensei. During one week in the month of February 1998, we (Matsubayashi-ryu Spain) had the honour of receiving Soke Takayoshi Nagamine accompanied by Shigehide Akamine Sensei.
