Those words hit you like a tons of bricks, even if you did all the research and read all the definitions? This beautiful, gurgling, cooing, cubby-cheeked baby in my arms was flawed. Damaged. No longer perfect? Then came the dizzying avalanche of expert opinions and their dire predictions. My child may spend the rest of her life with braces and crutches. Would she speak correctly? My child was not perfect?
