Thursday, March 29, 2012. Happy Birthday, William! My brother is 23 today! William, Marian, and me. Boys are just hard to buy for, aren't they? My dad and brother have always been this way.just plain content with what they have. Definitely a compliment, but sure hard for those of us wanting to give them a gift! In order to think of a thoughtful idea, each year I must get my creative juices flowing way in advance to come up with something special and fun. Happy Birthday, William! Links to this post. I hav...

Through the Back Loop: March 2008
http://kniticism.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Through the Back Loop. Welcome to Through the Back Loop - a sporadically updated, often neglected, blog about knitting, knitting and more knitting. Come on in! Thursday, March 27, 2008. Hello everyone - after a bit of an absence, I'm back to the blog, nose to the keyboard so to speak. It's funny how we just get caught up in the details of living life and things get away from us. But, never fear, while the blogging was lacking, there was knitting. And stash enhancement. Good stuff. My needles were still w...

the biased boulder: Bulky Cowl
http://thebiasedboulder.blogspot.com/2012/11/bulky-cowl.html
November 30, 2012. Now that it has finally started to get cold here in the South, I've had the opportunity to wear some of these cold winter knits that I've finished lately. This cowl was a really quick knit thanks to the super bulky yarn, and it has become one of my new favorites. First, the yarn is to die for! So soft and really cozy warm. It's Haciendo Plymouth Yarn. Pattern: Simple Ribbed Cowl by Orange Flower. Yarn: Haciendo Plymouth Yarn. 100% extra fine merino wool) - purchased at Knit.

Twisted, but basically harmless. January 23, 2008. I'm not normally a product knitter. What this means is that I enjoy the process of playing with the yarn. In fact, I've often said that I only knit so that I have an excuse to play with yarn. I'm rarely concerned with finishing anything and most often I'm knitting things that I won't and don't wear. But I really wanted this. 100% prime alpaca (no more plebeian alpaca for me) in a colorway called Elena Piscopia. Mmmm, soft and pretty. I didn't even read E...

Wednesday, December 28, 2011. Hats, Mittens, and Shoes! A friend of mine recently commissioned me. To make baby gifts. For her two brand new nephews. We went to this fun store. And picked out some great yarns. And then I set to work making. Hats and mittens and shoes. Here's the first set . The green and gray! I put little crocheted buttons on the sides of the shoes. And the little mittens. These were my favorite to make. And I actually learned a new knitting technique in the process! I feel like the slow.
