LifeofRileys: October 2013

Tuesday, October 08, 2013. What I Read in September - "Required" Reading. The book club I'm in chose to read "One Glorious Ambition". In each state, she met with the officials and in many cases, convinced them that a facility for "the least of these" was a necessity. She met with many setbacks along the way and also battled severe illness throughout. I admire her vision and her absolute focus on relieving the suffering of so many. I laughed and I cried and I didn't want it to end. It also led to grea...

ummmm....: Remember my great old barn?
http://donna34me.blogspot.com/2009/04/remember-my-great-old-barn.html
I have nothing to say. I say it regularly. Monday, April 6, 2009. Remember my great old barn? I've posted pictures of it before. Well it's gone now. It was in bad shape. Really, really bad shape. It was held up by a cable, I think. So Mark had it torn down. Marcy, I'm gonna miss watching our boys hanging out the door of the loft and dropping to the ground. Oh, did I ever tell you they did that? Great barn. Glad to see it go. Barns are evil. April 7, 2009 at 7:57 AM. April 7, 2009 at 8:27 AM. I will alway...

Thursday, January 30, 2014. Thursday and a Snowy Owl. The weather has been bitter cold here, and not over the freezing mark for days. There is promise of some warmth in the forecast soon! Sunday, January 26, 2014. I took this shot a few days ago not far from my home. It was a dark gray day, and these eagles were about 250 - 300 ft. away up high in this Sycamore tree. very cold here this morning. At 6:30 it was -6º. More snow on the way. Have a great day everyone and stay warm. Saturday, January 25, 2014.

Woodynook Creations: April 2014
http://woodynookcreations.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 24, 2014. My little Bantam hen Marigold hatched out 3 chicks on Easter Sunday. They are adorable, and I sure won't have trouble remembering their birthdays. I took a walk on the creek trail this afternoon, and really didn't see much. The skunk cabbage is out and some wild onions. That was all. Not even any wildlife. We've had some warm days, but no warm rain yet, and Tuesday we had snow again, so things are still hibernating I guess. Hope all is going well for everyone. Looking upstream o...

Woodynook Creations: Sunday morning and the creek trail.
http://woodynookcreations.blogspot.com/2014/04/sunday-morning-and-creek-trail.html
Sunday, April 13, 2014. Sunday morning and the creek trail. Most of these shots were taken along the creek trail I walk. It is a gorgeous day, although really windy, and a good time to survey the damage done after the ice jam on the creek this winter. This is the creek looking West, or downstream. That tree leaning over the water is a Sycamore tree, and has been leaning like this for many years. Looking upstream or East. The only wildlife I saw were these two male Mallard ducks. No Skunk Cabbage yet.

LifeofRileys: February 2013
http://lifeofrileys-co.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 17, 2013. Our 2nd son, Chase, turned 16 on February 4th. He wants to take a few friends to either paintball or bowling, but we haven't fully worked out the dates and details, so that will be later this month. On his actual birthday, he wanted me to make homemade biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Only I don't do gravy. I do not have the patience for it. So he made his own. :) Hey, I did make the biscuits from scratch, though. He ordered the Lamb Masala and Scott had Chicken Masala. I'm re...

LifeofRileys: July 2012
http://lifeofrileys-co.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 29, 2012. Summer 2012 - Week 9. July 23 - July 29. We are starting to work our way more quickly down our summer list. In June, there always seems to be so much time. By the end of July, not so much. One of the things we had on the list this year was tie-dye. So I bought some t-shirts on sale at Hobby Lobby and we got busy. They did a great job, but somehow I only got a picture of one finished product. This is Declan's:. One evening after dinner, we headed to a local park. Summer 2012 - Week 8.

Woodynook Creations: Sunday June 29th
http://woodynookcreations.blogspot.com/2014/06/sunday-june-29th.html
Sunday, June 29, 2014. I have had 3 Chipmunks spending time beneath my bird feeders. I don't think this one can possibly get any more sunflower seeds in his pouches. Maple leaves forming have the most beautiful red color. One pair of my homing pigeons have decided to nest in the rafters of the barn, and these are their first offspring. I really don't have room for any more, but The parents won't come back to their pen inside. sigh. Chicory is in full bloom, and it is one of my summer time favorite flowers.

Tuesday, June 18, 2013. I know I probably have posted this before, but it is one of my favorites, and I haven't any new ones recently. I'm so sorry if I haven't been visiting my favorite blogs lately like I want to, but I have been preoccupied here at home, so I might not be posting as much as I like to. Please bear with me, and I will be back. To see more barns, drop over to see Tricia at http:/ bluffareadaily.blogspot.com. Friday, June 7, 2013. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

ummmm....: I've been looking for a place like this my whole life.
http://donna34me.blogspot.com/2009/04/ive-been-looking-for-place-like-this-my.html
I have nothing to say. I say it regularly. Thursday, April 16, 2009. I've been looking for a place like this my whole life. And my friend Chad found it in Atlanta. My pastor used to say, "There's no such thing as the perfect church, but if you ever find one don't join it 'cause then it won't be perfect anymore.". I think he was talking to folks in general, not just. Labels: signs and notes. How did you put those "you might enjoy these stories" at the bottom of your post? April 20, 2009 at 9:31 PM. I'm ma...
