Four members of leaps took part, we were first introduced to our instructor Christina and fitted with a riding hat then we made our way over to the indoor viewing area and arena, where we were introduced to our guides and the horses. Lead to Encourage Activities Participation and Sport. Routes described below include short and middle distance walks. They are all wheelchair friendly but some assistance may be needed at certain points. Routes are based mainly along public footpaths and incorporate places of interest, both historic and cultural and of course the natural environment. Working in partnership with Durham County Council, ‘Wear Walking for Health’ co-ordinator ensures a safe and enjoyable walk experience for all participants.

Lead to Encourage Activities Participation and Sport. Members of LEAPS have tried archery at two different Calvert Trust activity centres, and a private club at Gilesgate School in Durham. With specially adapted equipment, most disabled people can take part in archery with the assistance of very helpful instructors and staff. Both Calvert Trust centres had specially trained staff for working with people with disabilities and having the right equipment to enable them to participate. LEAPS Rating = 5.

Some members of the group have visited a number of locations including Aldin Grange, Grassholme Reservoir in Teesdale, Eden Meadows and Paradise Witton-Le-Wear Lakes.
