Experiencing Malaysia - By Anita: January 2008

Experiencing Malaysia - By Anita. Monday, January 28, 2008. I hope no one reading here ever has to experience what I've been going through for the past 7 days! Allow me to finish my coverage on the healthcare system in Malaysia. I wanted to let everyone know that the stomach flu/food poisioning (which I would have loved to name the "never-ending-rollar-coaster-of-horrors") may have finally passed through its worst stage. (Yeah! I was just about to break down before I got my wish. look below. I got so inc...

Experiencing Malaysia - By Anita. Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Remembering Why I Came Here. So, I have started my second week of teaching with renewed energy and vigor. During my first few weeks in this country, the name of the game was negotiation, adjustment and gaining knowledge. But when I entered that classroom for the first time… why I remembered why I came here in the first place! Bless the magic of a routine! And then walking onto the campus about 5 minutes later. I’ve also learned tha...I think...

Experiencing Malaysia - By Anita: In the Grip of Culture Shock

Experiencing Malaysia - By Anita. Friday, February 8, 2008. In the Grip of Culture Shock. There are so many things to learn when you come to a new country and are in constant contact with the citizens of that nation. You learn how everybody is, in some way, similar but you also learn how everybody is so incredibly different as well! Certainly not to smile and laugh with insane glee, though that is a response that I’ve gotten from several people when bringing up these topics! 8221; Wow. I’ll lea...I have ...

Experiencing Malaysia - By Anita. Friday, December 28, 2007. Start of a Journey. Leaving home is hard. We get so addicted to our routines, our habits, and our relative feeling of security associated with home that leaving it completely behind us is more than a little daunting. Change is something we sometimes seek, but we often times run from. Indeed, I feel like running from it now. Leaving home and everything that you ever know is hard. But I think that in this case, it will be worth the sacrifice.

Experiencing Malaysia - By Anita: Coming to Chukai
http://anita-is-here.blogspot.com/2008/02/coming-to-chukai.html
Experiencing Malaysia - By Anita. Sunday, February 3, 2008. So my orientation has finally come to an end and the real part of my Fulbright experience has finally begun. I realized that when my orientation ended there would be major changes, but I never expected… this major. It appears that within the last few days I have gained the celebrity status of Michael Jackson and Julia Roberts combined! Last night, I could hardly sleep as a result of all the noise of girls yelling, slamming doors and, my favorite...

Travelling man. Moving words. Running shoes. Backpack. Camera. Open mind. Ready wit. Words to match. April 17, 2007. The Not-as-Famous Boston Ten-Miler. Posted by bvsouders under Running. It is early in the morning the day after Patriots’ Day in Boston. I look to my right at the frightening pile of still damp running clothes, wondering how all of it will fit back into my bag. My black Boston Marathon 2007 shirt lies on the chair where it was thrown yesterday. The finisher’s medal? And, more importantly, ...
