The Bay of the Mont Saint-Michel is a unique region of France where land and water meet in an unusual way. Here we experience the highest tides of Europe with a 15 m difference between high and low. The marshes that result from this marriage of land and water are called les grèves , a vast expanse of grassy flats. The grèves are home to an extraordinary variety of birds from spatulas and egrets to ducks and wild geese. Here 134 species use these grounds for reproduction, migration stops, and wintering.
