Here it is, April 3, and we're showing no real signs of his ever wanting to leave. So, I've been using my off-work time to whip together a few necessities. First, I made this diaper bag:. Josh picked out the fabric so it would be something he was willing to carry. The plaid is canvas and the brown (which is also the interior) is plain cotton. Good idea, Crystal!

Thursday, April 24, 2014. I Turned 30 and Gave a Lumberjack Party. Totally normal, right? Well, the lumberjack party was for Jess whose birthday is the day after mine. The night before, Josh and I went to see Othello at Portland Center Stage as a gift from my parents. I always get excited about a PCS show, not in small part because of their sets. This one was definitely up to their high standards. And can we talk about the actress who played Emilia? Because she made those old, marvelous words come alive!

We had to wait an extra two weeks, which meant that I went into the hospital on the night of my birthday to be induced. We ended up waiting around till the next day because there were too many active labors for them to start me right away. Once they got to me, though, things really got going! It seems I just needed a little nudge to be able to proceed on my own. The little guy had 42 weeks to grow that big, though&...

Saturday, February 23, 2013. Quilty Catch Up Part 3. This next quilt was made for Susannah Molinaro (Sue-Mo for short! For once, I was on track to finish a baby quilt before a due date, but Susannah decided to come a little early. Then I waited for a dry day to take pictures of the quilt outside. It's Oregon. Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Hmm, let's see. Things I've done since last July. We took 3 month old Jess on a hiking vacation to Colorado and New Mexico. We bought a house in Boring, Oregon. We named the house Hoquarton. We invited some friends to move into the basement and put a kitchen down there so they have their own apartment. Josh started at a private practice. And I made exactly one quilt. It was supposed to be a Christmas present, but we just got it in the mail last week. Oops! She loves Taos, New Me...

Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Oh my June was a whirlwind. We started off by marching in the Grand Floral Parade for Portland's Rose Festival. We were pioneers with the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. We looked like this:. Then we hosted Josh's mom and her two sisters in a Portlandia Extravaganza. We went everywhere and did everything. Which includes walking through. Sunday, July 7, 2013. Family History in Fabric. I'd never worked with anything like this before, but I did some research on restoring old quilts and decided I was game to give it a try. This quilt was fun to work on and neat to see completed. Kara and her mom were excited about having it back in a usable condition and I was glad to be a part of the story of this family treasure! Friday, May 25, 2012. As soon as I finished Remy's quilt. After months of careful piecing and design, I started a simpler, but still detailed, quilt. This quilt is probably made of just as many pieces, but they went together so much faster! I used this technique. To piece together 300 3" squares super-quickly. There's none of that one-piece-at-a-time nonsense this way, and the points come out just perfectly. Every time. Look how much was lost to seam allowance in the first row! Wednesday, May 16, 2012.
