House Painting | Horizon Hills

Moving from Singapore to JB. February 26, 2016. Time really flies and we’ve been living in HH for about 3.5 years now. Wow. Who knew we’d stay for so long! Anyway, living in a landed property is not always a bed of roses. And it seems like the 3 year point is where things start to break down due to natural wear and tear. 3-4 years is also the duration that algae/moss needs to grow on external walls to the point of making the walls extremely unsightly and gross. Hah! There’s fake paint in the market.

Moving from Singapore to JB. Did you know you can use your medisave in JB? September 9, 2016. For a long time, I thought that our CPF medisave could only be used in Singapore. But that’s not true…apparently, you can use your medisave for treatment in selected hospitals in Johor. There are currently 2 hospitals in Johor that you can use Medisave to pay for your treatment, and the best part of it is….1 of the 2 are located super near to HH! Ok, what’s the big deal, I hear you say. However, the fact remains...

Better to invest in Singapore or JB property? | Horizon Hills
https://horizonhills.wordpress.com/2016/04/21/better-to-invest-in-singapore-or-jb-property
Moving from Singapore to JB. Better to invest in Singapore or JB property? April 21, 2016. Sorry for the lack of update folks. The last several months have been very crazy for me and the hubs because we’ve been house hunting in Singapore! And so in December 2015, we finally bought an apartment in Singapore. It took us between 3 – 5 years to save up enough money for the downpayment of our private apartment in Singapore. We can’t buy a HDB without selling HH, in case you were wondering. Because we bought a...

Learning to be a fix-it man | Horizon Hills
https://horizonhills.wordpress.com/2015/03/16/learning-to-be-a-fix-it-man
Moving from Singapore to JB. Learning to be a fix-it man. March 16, 2015. It’s been slightly over 2 years since we moved into our place in HH and coming to 4 years since we signed our S&P. Time really flies! Especially so when there’s a big house to maintain on your own. Anyway, I’m writing this post because other than the mundane, there have been some more interesting things that’s happened which actually warrants a post. Pro business as the folks in Singapore. That being the case, we ended up fixing th...

Build, and they will come? | Horizon Hills
https://horizonhills.wordpress.com/2015/05/26/build-and-they-will-come
Moving from Singapore to JB. Build, and they will come? May 26, 2015. So, it’s finally started. The buildings are nearly done, but where’s the boom? Like 6000 apartment units by a single developer and thousands more along the same stretch of road? And what place does a shoebox unit costing in excess of RM1million have in Johor Bahru? JB is very far from being the capital of Malaysia. My friends, rationality has been totally thrown out of the window. News on the Iskandar Project Development. As you say, I...

Moving from Singapore to JB. Vets and Animal Hospitals in JB. September 6, 2016. This post probably will only appeal to animal lovers/owners who live in JB, so if you are not one, you may want to skip this post as the contents of this post may literally bore you to death. 😛. Recently, my dog Pepper, has been very sick. To make a very long story short, she suffered within a span of 2 months:. Chlyamdosis (a relatively rare disease spread by birds). Like, seriously…the veterinary field in JB is. I canR...

Nuances of Real Estate: November 2011
http://mpiceoblog.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Nuances of Real Estate. Lets Talk About our Real Estate. MPI has had many Fund Managers come to our office seeking information on investment opportunities and data on property transactions that are current. It is not very encouraging to discover that investment funds from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore have so little information on real estate in Malaysia. Links to this post. When the Kuala Lumpur International Financial District (KLIFD) was announced, I was quite pleased at its location at the ot...

Nuances of Real Estate: August 2011

Nuances of Real Estate. Blog Writing is Personal - Part 1. The experience of writing a blog is probably more personal than writing an article for a newspaper or for a magazine. I have written articles before and I have noticed that there are opportunities in blogs to be more meteoric, more personal, more punchy. Why? Is it because people want other people to read them and create some discussion? Or is it because they do not want to come across as boring and repetitive? Links to this post. A graduate from...
