I left my camera on the bus and didn't think to use my phone for pictures. How stupid of me! However, visiting their Knesser (where they worship) and eating at their restaurant was enlightening! A travelog of the Heritage Tour to Lithuania. Friday, June 25, 2010. Wonderful day in Vilnius. After another wonderful breakfast we headed to the Jewish Community Center. Even though the Jewish community in Vilnius is small, there is a school, kindergarten, camp and other social and community service activities. There is even a Jewish paper, but I don't think it comes out very often. We then saw the sight of a very old Jewish cemetery which has a sports arena built on top of it.

A travelog of the Heritage Tour to Lithuania. Thursday, June 24, 2010. So far so good! Trip participants are nice and everyone is getting along, showing up on time, etc. Arrived yesterday afternoon after almost missing 2 connections. Newark was "locked down" and I couldn't get a boarding pass or change terminals. Then the flig. But I guess this is the closest I'll get! Next was the Jewish Holocaust Museum,which also had some excellent exhibits and lots to see. After lunch we visited the Jewish cemetery.

A travelog of the Heritage Tour to Lithuania. Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Departure Day, June 22, 2010. Wow - it's hard to believe - the day is finally here. My brother, Ken, and I have talked about going to Lithuania for years, and we are really doing it. 10 days to see and learn what we can about that part of our heritage. We wish our mom would come, too, but she is too nervous and really wishes we weren't going. Am I healed well enough? I guess I really won't know until I'm back.
