Mascot Manor Genealogy: August 2014
http://mmgenealogy.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 30, 2014. Serendipity. Or Thanks, Dad. Dad called me on a Wednesday evening. Wednesday, August 22, 2012 to be exact. He told me that he’d decided to stop his dialysis treatments. We all knew this meant not only limited time, but marked time, so my brother and I jumped on a plane to Oregon that Friday. We stayed the weekend and had a wonderful time. He was in the best spirits and absolutely unafraid. Having not grown up with many beliefs, this was a new topic for us. A new topic for us.

Thursday, August 21, 2014. School doesn’t officially start until after Labor Day. That said, the kids’ science class started this week, but they don’t actually know that science is school, since their science teacher makes it all fun. We met Jenny when Signa was two and we joined the local homeschool group. We were in a preschool group together and I think have been together at least once a week ever since. Jenny is a scientist and a few years ago started teaching all our kids science. Mascot Manor - HOME.

Is Knowing Obsolete? | Mascot Manor Academy
http://mmhomeschool.blogspot.com/2014/09/is-knowing-obsolete.html
Friday, September 19, 2014. I drive literally hours to and from work each week and I find that audio books and podcasts make it not just bearable, but actually enjoyable. A couple of weeks ago, I listened to a. Ted Talk Radio Hour. Called, “. 8221; It was unbelievably fascinating. You have to listen to it yourself, but in essence, the message was that children don’t always need teachers; they need people to not get in the way of learning. Facilitators, if you will. 8230;Is knowing obsolete? Facebook keep...

Mascot Manor Genealogy: Evaluating Evidence and Reviewing Online Education
http://mmgenealogy.blogspot.com/2015/02/evaluating-evidence-and-reviewing.html
Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Evaluating Evidence and Reviewing Online Education. Week 6 of Genealogy Do-Over brings us Evaluating Evidence and Reviewing Online Education Options. I admit that evaluating evidence brings me the most amount of angst. I think because of my difference in how I'm researching (to write, not to log), evaluating will happen via words rather than a chart. I can explain that there are four dates for someone's birth, where each came from and which I trust. My Public Dropbox Folder.

Halfway Point! | Mascot Manor Academy
http://mmhomeschool.blogspot.com/2015/01/halfway-point.html
Monday, January 19, 2015. With our homeschool year getting to the half over mark, I thought I'd do a quick update. Jenny is still teaching science and just a couple of weeks ago, the kids got to dissect a frog. Signa was note taker, but Will dove right in. We've been very lazy on history in that we aren't following a curriculum, despite my plans. Instead, we are going with whatever the kids (or us) are finding interesting for the week. They just started a new Minecraft Homeschool. Here are their essays:.
