Media, Culture, and Meaning. Mar 7th, 2008. Today I spent a great deal of time evaluating the grant proposals of several candidates and then discussing those proposals in-depth with my colleagues. I am coming away with a few reminders about how to write a successful grant proposal. Grants are hard to come by, so it's always good to keep these kinds of things in mind. (. Posted at 02:09 pm. If she's a feminist, we should be able to ask who cares for Sarah Palin's kids - Lynn Schofield Clark
http://lynn-s-clark.livejournal.com/23955.html
Media, Culture, and Meaning. If she's a feminist, we should be able to ask who cares for Sarah Palin's kids. I woke up at 4:30 this morning in a tense sweat. It wasn’t due to the usual university professor stresses of a new school year, though, or worries about my kid's various activities. Today, my concerns weren’t about my own overcommitted life: they were about Sarah Palin’s. Why shouldn't women (and men) who have had less good fortune have support when they run into difficulties? But I’m especially a...

Introduction: The Rise of Networked Parenting - Lynn Schofield Clark

Media, Culture, and Meaning. Introduction: The Rise of Networked Parenting. By Lynn Schofield Clark. I decide to call Margie, who works at the school’s front desk, and ask her to hail my young family members as they exit the school to tell them I’m on my way. I dread that, though, too: who knows what the school staff does with the dirt they have on chronically late parents like me? What does it mean to be part of a network when it comes to being a parent? I’d like to suggest that the metaphor of networke...

Media, Culture, and Meaning. Sitting in my Copenhagen office, wondering if I should leave now. Thinking yes. It’s 4:51 and if I leave now, I can stop and pick up some things before the stores close at 6. I hadn’t realized the stores aren’t open here on Sunday, which wasn’t a big deal, but it does mean I need to get some milk today. In general, though, feeling rather scattered today and ready to have a chance to focus, and then write, tomorrow. Posted on Mar. 9th, 2009 at 11:33 am. But you shouldn't negle...

Media, Culture, and Meaning. Decided to go for a run today, and am getting a better sense of the relationship between places. I ran from my flat to Christiania, where I was last night. It was only about 20 minutes away, it turns out: long for a walk, but not at all bad by bike. I decided to try biking to the campus today, too. Today, what I worked on included: grading student papers (almost done! Understand it (e.g., conceiving of an audience, and a subject, that is rooted in the community rather...Tonig...

Media, Culture, and Meaning. Saturday, March 14. From there I headed back to the canal hiking/biking path and rode it to the northern part of the city of Copenhagen, where I passed the botanical gardens, Denmark’s national gallery, the Rosenborg castle, the King’s gardens, and then Nyhaven the area I’d explored on my last visit to Copenhagen. Over the bridge to Christianshaven, and then back to Amager, where my flat is located. Posted on Mar. 14th, 2009 at 11:59 pm. Journalism and New Media DU 08 class.

Gloria Steinem's take on Sarah Palin - Lynn Schofield Clark
http://lynn-s-clark.livejournal.com/24180.html
Media, Culture, and Meaning. Gloria Steinem's take on Sarah Palin. Palin: wrong woman, wrong message. Sarah Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Hillary Clinton. She is Phyllis Schlafly, only younger. September 4, 2008. Palin has been honest about what she doesn't know. When asked last month about the vice presidency, she said, "I still can't answer that question until someone answers for me: What is it exactly that the VP does every day? And American women, who suffer more because of having two fu...
