PAT-ASR Development of a Performance Assessment Tool for Alkali Silica Reaction: April 2014
http://pat-asr.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Monday, 14 April 2014. PhD Life: Formulating ASR Expansion. I came across this fun application on the web. And put our research topic to test. So it was not that complicated after all. Links to this post. Wednesday, 2 April 2014. ASR as hot topic at EURO-C Conference. The PAT-ASR team attended the last International Conference on Computational Modelling of Concrete and Concrete Structures, better know as EURO-C ( http:/ euro-c.tuwien.ac.at/. The venue: St. Anton am Albreg, Austria. Links to this post.

Tuesday, 26 November 2013. PhDLife: The Thesis Repulsor Field. Links to this post. Tuesday, 12 November 2013. Proof loading on the viaduct Vlijmen-Oost affected by Alkali-Silica Reaction. The viaduct Vlijmen-Oost, affected by Alkali-Silica Reaction, was proof loaded on 6 November 2013. This tested was performed in order to asses the structural response of the bridge and the its current capacity. Article in the local news paper. The BELFA truck used to perform the proof loading. PAT-ASR Development of a Performance Assessment Tool for Alkali Silica Reaction: IF MULTISCALE --> THEN MULTIDISCIPLINARY?
http://pat-asr.blogspot.com/2014/06/if-multiscale-then-multidisciplinary.html
Tuesday, 10 June 2014. IF MULTISCALE - THEN MULTIDISCIPLINARY? It's almost two years that I decide how to model the phenomenon of ASR in concrete structures. My choice is a multiscale material model based on poromechanics theory developed by Coussy, Dormieux, Ulm and further applied by Lemarchand and Charpin. I like a lot this approach because you can bridge scales, the equations can be solved analytically and it proved to describe properly the mechanical behavior of concrete. July 17, 2014. PAT-ASR Development of a Performance Assessment Tool for Alkali Silica Reaction: April 2013
http://pat-asr.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 16 April 2013. Last week the IS2C Annual Workshop took place in Vught and we were (of course) there! During the 2-days meeting we went also to visit two bridges (on the highway A59) affected by ASR. Here some picture of the technical visit. More information about all the projects can be found at http:/ is2c.nl/. Vlijmen - Oost bridge. Map cracking and calcium leaking. Cracking over the concrete repair material. Links to this post. http://pat-asr.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, 25 July 2013. Textbook AAR Damage in concrete samples. We are currently carrying out numerous Damage Rating index analysis on RILEM test (AAR-4.1 and AAR-3) samples. Along the process of images we frequently come along with text-book examples of ASR damage in our Lab samples. Here is one under UV light. Prism from RILEM AAR-3 Test on Norwegian Aggregates (Original Mix). Age 364 days old @ 38°C RH 100%. No Alkali boosting. Links to this post. Looking through the glass. Pass no judgment upon thin...

PAT-ASR Development of a Performance Assessment Tool for Alkali Silica Reaction: When the Ph.D. makes unreversible changes in you mind
http://pat-asr.blogspot.com/2014/08/when-phd-makes-unreversible-changes-in.html
Friday, 1 August 2014. When the Ph.D. makes unreversible changes in you mind. January 2011 - Beginning of my Ph.D. The concrete is an homogeneous material". At that time I was defining my-self as a structural engineer). Augustus 2014 - Almost the end of my Ph.D. The concrete material presents an high heterogeneity". Now I don't have any clue of how I am, but just of what I know). Same person, different mind. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Delft University of Technology. Stevinweg 1, 2628 CN. Awesome...
