The Midlife Farmwife: The Poor Farm

http://midlifefarmwife.blogspot.com/p/the-poor-farm.html

Who the Heck is She? What I mean by that is this.we hope this plot of land will be our very last home and if we die out there in the field with our animals, while chopping wood, while canning tomatoes, while stocking the big wood cook stove then yeah for us! We will keep 1 dairy cow, 1 steer, 2 feeder pigs, 2 dogs, 1 bee hive, 2 peacocks, 6 ducks, 1 horse, 25 broiler chickens and 50 laying hens. Thus we will be able to produce all our own meat and dairy products. Each day we will focus on survival. W...

Granny's Best: Growing Fodder (part 8) - Success

http://grannysbest.blogspot.com/2013/01/growing-fodder-part-8-success.html

Goat Dairy and Creamery. Friday, January 11, 2013. Growing Fodder (part 8) - Success. My dairy goats are energetically enjoying the Fodder that I'm growing for them. I was beginning to wonder if my efforts in building the Fodder System and growing the Fodder were a waste of time, effort, and money. But, feeding the fully grown 7 day old Fodder to my very pregnant does in the Kidding yard was met with enthusiasm for the fresh green food yesterday. Growing Fodder Part 1. Growing Fodder Part 2. Goat Dairy and Creamery. Friday, March 11, 2011. A Productive Day with Surprises. With the weather forecast to be in the upper 60's today . I had planned a lot of extra work to get done around the farm . and, scheduled help to accomplish the work! Two Old Broads: January 2014

http://two-old-broads.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 12, 2014. Baby it's cold outside! Vehicles won't start, animals need to be cared for and protected from wind chills that regularly hit -40, fires needed to be tended and when we did get to town, the regular cry from folks was "You girls staying warm out there? Comments from our Southern and European friends include the often repeated phrase of "Oh I couldn't live there! Thursday, September 24, 2015. A look at two dehydrators. So, what should you do? Word has it that the Excalibur is the 'Mother of all dehydrators', and a year ago we would have agreed with you without any reserves, but we came across a contender. We started off thinking that the Excalibur was going to win hands down, and we have had the LEM for almost a year now, working side by side, and here is what we found. Excalibur: $299.95 -$349.95 LEM: $189.99. Excalibur: 9 shelves LEM: 10 shelves. Excalibur offe...

Midlife Fabulous

April 4, 2016. Midlife Fabulous: Motivational Monday. Don’t Stumble Over Something Behind You. I saw this quote a few months ago and thought about how often we let past experiences or failures define our future. Holding on to the past can limit your future. I admit, I myself have been guilty of this. Years ago, I worked at a company for 10 years and was let go. For months I felt like I was a failure even though losing my job had nothing to do with performance. We also do this in our relationships. Women ...
