Choose Joy Today!: Meeting Jesus
http://ichoosejoytoday.blogspot.com/2010/11/meeting-jesus.html
Some songs I like right now. Thursday, November 18, 2010. I wrote in my last post about "re-purposing" myself. I realized over the last few days that what is missing in my life is not purpose, but relationship. Last week I read "Blue Like Jazz" by Donald Miller. Many people have been blown away by this book. It didn't blow me away in terms of my views on Christianity. But, there were things that Miller wrote that began to stir in me the notion that I am not in relationship with Jesus Christ. Notes on....

Choose Joy Today!: November 2008
http://ichoosejoytoday.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Some songs I like right now. Friday, November 28, 2008. JOY TO THE WORLD! Mal's play is finished. She did fantastic. I have to say, in spite of being her mom, she is a great character actress! And even though I still have a week of craziness ahead of me to prepare for our women's retreat, I plan resume blogging. And if you don't know about the 150 Santas in my closet, you will soon! They had a house with 3 finished floors (including the basement) and an almost finished attic. As the sons moved out, t...

Choose Joy Today!: Re-Purposing
http://ichoosejoytoday.blogspot.com/2010/10/re-purposing.html
Some songs I like right now. Thursday, October 28, 2010. Wow, it's been a really long time since I've looked at my own blog. My posts were becoming more and more sporadic until I just stopped posting last winter. My life is hugely different since then. Both of my children are in college now. Everyone keeps asking me how I'm enjoying the empty nest. I tell them the nest isn't really empty until their bills stop coming to us! But I understand what they mean. Empty nest. Empty. Yupthat's how I feel. And she...

Choose Joy Today!: March 2009
http://ichoosejoytoday.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Some songs I like right now. Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Remember the movie, "While You Were Sleeping"? Well, I feel like I just woke up and realized the world kept going without me! January was spent recovering from an over scheduled. November and December. In February, my sister and her family spent the entire month, from the 1st to the 28 th. So what happened to the winter? I have no idea what's going on. I have 2 months of TV shows on the DVR. Unwatched (mercifully I did get caught up on Lost! Are begin...

Choose Joy Today!: April 2009
http://ichoosejoytoday.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Some songs I like right now. Sunday, April 5, 2009. Here's a list of the top 10 things I learned since January. 10 Dirty is a relative term. What I used to think was a dirty house pales in comparison to what a house looks like after a month of 5 extra people living here and then another month of not having time to clean after that. So from now on, if I say "My house is dirty," it really means it's dirty, not just dusty and messy! Dusty and messy no longer count for much. 8 Send the card. 3 Say thank you.

Choose Joy Today!: February 2009
http://ichoosejoytoday.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Some songs I like right now. Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Joy in the midst of chaos! In spite of the sheer weight of the situation, we've managed to get through many tough hours and days by counting our blessings and finding humor where we can. I can't tell you how many cartons of ice cream, trays of Stouffers. Mac and Cheese, packages of Perdue. Dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets, pounds of grapes, boxes of Frosted. Pretty soon Shop-Rite is going to create an express lane just for me and my sister! The po...

Choose Joy Today!: January 2010
http://ichoosejoytoday.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Some songs I like right now. Saturday, January 30, 2010. I was pondering all of this yesterday afternoon while I was looking out at the feeders and I started to think of some similarities between the birds, the feeders, God and us. I'm trying to spend more time at God's feeder in both fair and stormy weather. Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Friday, January 29, 2010. 2009 was ab...

Choose Joy Today!: February 2010
http://ichoosejoytoday.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Some songs I like right now. Monday, February 1, 2010. Going where we are called. Yesterday morning during worship, our preacher Dan commented that Kristy will see, hear, and even smell things that she will not soon forget and that those things may trouble her for some time to come. Not that it can even be compared, but it made me think of my trip to Mississippi a couple of weeks after Hurricane Katrina hit. How did Jesus do it? He saw it all. I know he was perfect, but in him humaness, how could he ...

Choose Joy Today!: August 2009
http://ichoosejoytoday.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Some songs I like right now. Monday, August 31, 2009. It's been a long time. It's been a LONG time since I've written anything on this blog. I really haven't had the urge to write anything. It's been a different kind of summer, then again it's been a different kind of year. I recently read "Relentless". He summed up in one sentence the way I try to live my life. I'm hoping in the next few days I can take the time to share some of the wonder, humor, and smiles I have enjoyed in the past few months. I ...
