January 2011 - Sierra Scoop Column. I wish everyone good health and prosperity in this coming year. At the November 2nd board meeting, non-County agencies (Jazz Jubilee, Historical Societies, etc) submitted requests for $103,000 (money that does not need to be paid back). The BOS agreed in August not to exceed $92,000 for these causes. However, three Supervisors agreed to OVERSPEND by $11,000! Is this what is meant by frugal? August 2011 - Sierra Scoop Column. Why is it that the little guy is the one that always seems to get the short end of the stick? Revenue is expected to go down, while some expenses went up. What I find quite interesting is that “The People” (mainly our Senior Citizens on fixed incomes) are being squeezed with fee increases of 20% or more and service decreases while ESTA management salaries are being raised by 5%! October 2011 - Sierra Scoop Column. The County took the final step on August 16th at its 3rd public hearing and 2nd reading of the ordinance on Re-Districting. The new ordinance, ORD-11, revised the Mono County Code to establish new Supervisorial District lines based off of the 2010 Census data. This new ordinance effectively implements option B (one of three options submitted by the Re-Districting Committee) with some minor boundary changes. And the way it was 10 years ago.
